Dots lines dots and more dots

Hi, it doesn't really matter what colour you practise with. Thinking about it, if you use different colours you will see what their individual spray qualities are eg: black may have a lot of tip dry where red has hardly any. As well as getting your dots, daggers and fades in, you are also learning your paint characteristics at the same time, killing 2 birds with one stone. I will say keep on doing this, its boring but it keeps your muscle memory too. I still do a few before I paint just to get the feel.

That makes total sence , thanks for the reply, I am going to make up some practice sheets in Photoshop and print them out instead of dotting by hand!!

Im with Lee on that. When I practice (which is not nearly enough) I like to use a color other than black because of the tip dry due to heavier pigment. But it is a good lesson in reduction of your paint when you use black. Doin great :)

Doing these dots really helped me to grasp and understand double actioning a lot more. Practice, practice, practice is the key I think.

But looking at some of your photos you don't need dots and lines. It looks like you've passed that stage a long time ago.....or you been cheating??

Cheating???? How dare you!!!!!;)lol Nah man, Ive been painting and drawing all my life, I picked up a airbrush and compressor a few months ago, but I have learned more here at this forum the last couple weeks than I have the whole time Ive had them!
I have so much to learn, control, that damn double action trigger takes a lot of practice, Ill sit around watching tv with my airbrush practicing faux lines, move right, air on, paint on, paint off, left, paint on, paint off, etc.
This site and all the wonderful people here are a Godsend, im so glad I found home!!!!!

I know exactly what you mean. Real nice site with real nice people here.

Oh, how do you like your infinity?
Still getting used to it. Nice thin lines though. It makes you look a better artist than you are. LOL. Between that and my Iwata Eclipse HP-CS I think I've got 2 very good airbrushes to be getting on with. Just to get that damn trigger control under control.

OK for tonights entertainment we have........more dots and lines!!!!!!:D
Just a bunch of practice stuff tonight, missed a few days with this flu, My Krome was acting up at first, would keep spraying when I let off the trigger, cleaned out the tip and all was well, started with Wicked detail black, minor tip dry, switched to violet, nearly no probs at all, reduction is the bomb!!!!!!!
Tried dagger strokes, maybe one in ten kinda looked right, gotta keep on practicing!

Your dots look good man.. Liking the fade on the top right sphere too. Your getting there which is the main point.
