ive been struggling for a few days trying to get somewhere close and am failing miserably.
I'm trying to imitate the leather cushion.
Any suggestions?

Herb. Can you remember which 'safe place' I put it, that would help even more !
I just tried a dryer sheet until I find the Remay and I think @Mr.Micron has won this round.
Now to play with some colours - it's a cream couch !

I was going to suggest the dryer sheet!! Looks like you have it nailed :)
And where were you when I needed you ?? Oh that's right, sunning yourself on the Gold Coast lol

And I wouldn't say I nailed it but I'm a lot closer than I was.... still can't find the bit of Remay that Herb sent :(

If you got it that good with your drier sheet I don't think you need to worry about the remay:) all you need now a randomly torn piece of paper to add the creases and some careful erasing to to add your areas where the light hits most.

You're right, the drier sheet will probably suffice, but now I'm wondering where I've put the Remay  ooo look shiney !! I get side track too easily when I'm on holidaylol
Thanks for the heads up with the torn paper, it saves me hunting through my stash of 'texturisers' wondering what to use.
The dog is a mini schnauzer and all that fur doesn't worry me, but the leather had me stumped. I should have asked earlier instead of being stubborn and trying to figure it out myself.
Shame this is just a practise sheet !
Thanks for all the help gang

Jumping in those cracking waves!!!

Only reason I suggest Remay over dryer sheet is due to no chemicals in it . Dryer sheets work but I will hand wash them and then dry them prior too using just to to possible left behind residue on them.
Oh and sorry Jackie you made me look away when you put it in that secret hiding place .

Another good thought - washing them !!

That'd be right ! Any other time you'd peek, when you needed to peek you didn't

I don't know if it's of any use to you but since I have recently been upholstering stuff a lot lately I seem to spend a lot of time in the the cloth/material shop checking out all kinds of stuff, I know they sell a material there which i would assume to be remay/drier sheet material since it is exactly as Herb describes it with the fibreglass like texture, in upholstery it is use on corners and curves to help us to able able to stretch put pre-sewn covers over without disturbing the shapes of out foams and protection matting, I have actually tried doing all that without it the stuff but it's damn near impossible, but the stuff is ridiculously cheap, so I am sure you'll find the material easily at cloth shop, it might not be called remay in your location, but if you have a piece of your drier sheet with you, they will know what you're looking for:)

I'm sure you are well ahead of me in the intelligence stakes , but to be on the safe side, when using the torn paper trick, be sure to work out where your shadows need to be before hand, I can't tell you how many times I messed that upo_O and the trick isn't mine, I stole it from @AndreZA while ear-wigging one of his posts a while back, in fact anything I have that is of any value or relevance, I stole form Andre, so if he goes looking for something and can't find it, good chance it's hiding somewhere in my house :):):)

Spending time at the material shop because you need upholstery cloth ...... okay.... if that's the story you want to go with then that's fine, I'll just pretend I didn't see you walking out with fleecy material then :sus:

As for stealing from Andre - shame on you! You know he would have let you borrow it if you had asked, on the subject of nicking stuff, are you sure YOU don't have my Remay ??!!

Can you put up a pic of what you use on the upholstery? I suspect it's what we call non woven interfacing!
