Spray gun advice

Hi all,

Recently I saw a spray gun/airbrush compressor deal for sale although I can'r remember the link.
I really could do with a wide spraying gun for varnishing walls when I'm out doing murals but need something that will run off a standard small airbrush compressor. Varnishing with a brush can take time. Does anyone know of any spray gun models that can run off a standard airbrush compressor?

Thanks

What are you calling a standard airbrush compressor ?
IE .. The studio tankless ones or the ones with a less then 1 gallon tank?
I have a Silent Aire 50 I use for work away from my home that keeps up great with the HVLP spray gun. Being most hvlp run at 35 PSI .

Also depends if you want to use a HVLP or a LVLP gun. HVLP guns need a good amount of CFM especially when you want to spray for more than a few seconds.

Not sure but my compressor is:
  • Motor - 240V 60Hz 1Ph
  • Power: 1/6 HP
  • Air tank: 3.5L
  • Maximum pressure - 87 psi
  • 1/8 BSP male outlet (9mm diameter)
  • Air displacement - 40-46 litres/min
  • Weight - 6.0kg

You could think over following:

This one (or similar) is chinese
http://www.ebay.com/itm/K-3-Air-Spr...934016?hash=item46568f2b40:g:r4oAAOSwYIxX-HtC
There's K3 with flat/round spray head, you can switch between round and flat spray pattern.

This one is from Iwata
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANEST-IWATA...hash=item281a7338a9:m:mNb_REwI5VBpm1VUsMNW0BQ

You can buy RG-3 without cup and also buy chinese gun with cup for the reason of cup that you can use with Iwata:D I did so myself as buying original Iwata cup is robbery:) Chinese cup fits all side feed Iwata guns.

Hi Vladimir,
Thanks for those links. Would these products work with the compressor specs above that I posted up?

I've checked my chinese gun for specifications, but there's nothing inside the box, only plastic bags.
Here's the video:

RG-3 consumes:
0.4-0.6 mm nozzle - 30 l/min
1.0 mm nozzle - 50 l/min

So you can freely use 0.6 mm nozzle with your compressor.

Chinese one has air hole like RG-3 has, so I think air consumption is similar. K3 is knock off of RG-2 with slightly different body.

That seems to work fairly well. I have one one of those but haven't fired it up yet but i also have the one without the fan cap which works fine but i use them on my garage compressor. Its worth a try as you can get them for less than $10 I payed just over £6 for mine.

£6? That's cheap! Can you remember where you bought it from? I would defo need the wide/fan spray option.

Thanks for posting that - looks like it could work for me. Would need the wider fan spray option though - does the gun on the ebay link have a fan/wide spray option you know?

The one from a link is only round option.
The spray guns look this way:

Now you can see which one has flat/round spray pattern head.
