Tiling to print across multiple pages

Air-Valve Autobot!
There are a hundred ways to do this, many are tedious, lots involve a lot of manipulation on your part.
This is so easy a caveman can do it.
This program has been mentioned here before, but it's been about 5 years and never been in tips and tricks so thought I'd post it up.
Posterazor
http://posterazor.sourceforge.net/
It's a free program available for mac or PC that automates the process of splitting an image into multiple sheets in order to get far larger then your printer can handle. You can just put in an image, decide the size and you're done.
The only thing you have to watch is your margins. You'll have to set them in the program you print from as well as in posterazor.
To start I set all mine to zero and print a single page to figure out the actual unprintable area on my printer.
Which turned out to be .125" on my printer. So i set all margins to that. Be sure to use the same orientation also.
Now you can tile out an image to as large as you want, you are only limited by your ink and paper supply.

This is the best part, Working with your projector

I have a projector as many of us do, however the other really cool part here is , say you need to cut a stencil for one little part of the image. Just measure the projected area, posterazer the whole thing to that, pick your page with that part on it and voila. No messing with figuring out how much to scale up part of the image to match what you've projected it to.

Meh, so is mine. This is a very low resource program.
No problem running the program, the one picture I wanted to try I can't get to open on the computer, and the screen goes wonky when you look at it funny. The other laptop has not been turned on since 2010 and is probably filled with Afghanistan :poo: dust, it was going so crazy the last error message I got from it said "I don't know what is going on". I am no computer expert but I figured if the computer does not know what the error is it must be badlol.
Guess it is time to stop being cheap and get a new one but I have my eye on an Iwata eclipse.

HAHA, You should see my laptop. It's covered in paint splatter, a little concrete splatter, a little polyester resin. It has no battery and I've ocasionaly used it for test sprays, but its a macbook, The only thing that's gonna kill it is Apples pension for dropping support for anything over 2 years old, then everyone else follows suit and before you know it your perfectly functional mac can't even surf the web because it can't be updated.
Meanwhile the Windows desktop that I use for a CNC workstation is perfectly capable even though it's about 12 years old but every six months I have to take two days to wipe the system and re-install everything to keep it from slowing to a crawl. Even with antivirus taking up 25% of it's resources LOL

I tried this program some time ago and like Tilemage a lot better.
Windows only, and doesn't appear to allow you to simply pick the final dimensions of the image. Just how many rows and columns you want so you'd still have to do the math, which is definitely not for me. LOL

I felt I was doing more math with your program LOL , Being I mainly know I am using 8.5x11 inch paper to print it on I just need to know how many sheets will cover the area so that math is easy.

What if you want it exactly 48 inches wide?
Whatever your preference, I just would rather type 48 than have to figure;
well it's 5.647 pages wide, so i want 6 columns but then i need to shrink the images by such and such percent so that they actually leave .058 of a page empty. Well wait still have to account for un printable area......
What if you want it 48.25 inches wide?
If your final image is some even multiple of 10.875 and also happens to be an even multiple of 8.375
than it's pretty easy.
Plus photoshop can split an image by rows and columns built in anyhow.

I mean it doesn't matter, whatever works better for you.

I'm happy to see more programs added to the list, none will work best for everyone.

I will give it another go but the first few time I tried it out I just could not get the hang of it.

I am not sure why I always get prints that are wrong with that program as in the prints never line up and I never get the results I want so I am still using photoshop to create multiple page prints

Most likely the margins in the program that you print from arent set the same as the program. Theres that stupid overlap feature too which i just set to zero.
Doing it from photoshop isn't all that bad though, pretty easy since you can just blow it up to size and set the it to print from multiple pages. Just on my slower computers, by the time photoshop actually starts I could already be printing from this. Plus I only have photoshop for windows and don't have it for my mac laptop.

I will have to give it another try with a different picture. I had a hard time to get it to go to 11x14. Every time I changed one dimension it would change the other. I ended up just using Excel. Bet that was at work and that was the only program I had that would do it.

It won't change one dimension disproportionately to the other so it doesn't stretch or squeeze the image.
If you want to stretch or squeeze the image you have to use something else first so that your original image is some multiple of 11x14. You can use just about any image editor to make it 11x14.
Then posterazer would make that printable on two pages.
Even windows photo gallery or photos or photo viewer or Mac preview can all change the images size to whatever you want. Just keep in mind you'll distort the image if both dimensions arent changed in proportion.
