House of Kolor or Createx Illustration paint?

Yup, I've seen places now that do wild custom work that looks really good at a distance and you get up close only to realize the whole damm thing is a wrap

With regard to wraps, My #2 Son does it for a living on yachts, He flies all over Europe and the States. He just came back from Monaco where he did a job which cost £70,000, the owner didn't like the design even though he had specified it, so nipper had to strip if off, another £25,000 then re-do the job with a different design at £70,000 so there is money in it.
But, my question is this, who painted the original designs? they have to come from somewhere!
A guy asked me to price up a bonnet job on his Mk2 Jag but didn't get back to me and I don't chase ppl! I saw him recently with a bonnet job done in Vinyl, I asked him about it and he said it cost him £1oo and although it is pixelated to hell he seemed happy. There is no accounting for peoples taste!
But back to topic!
I personally started with the AA line of paints and I must admit I did struggle with it at first but I did a course with Simon Murray who is the main importer of AA here in the UK and he showed how to get the best out of the paints and I now have to say I'm more than happy with it (not sure about the "autoborne" range though).
I have however just in the last week started playing with E'tac for painting fur and I like the results .....
I see no reason why anyone would need to go for HoK unless they are heavily in to candy stuff and even then AA do a candy line which works for me.

Guy down the road has a tail gate wrap that he gave 1000 for. Wild turkey in a field setting.
From 20 yards is does look great but up close pixels town.
But vinyl wraps has hurt the airbrushing world some. Mainly because they can print it and install it in a two day time frame .
Up in Indianapolis they have a computer programmed airbrush station for mainly the city buses . they put the picture in the program with what bus it is going on . Pull the bus in and hit go . In a few hours the bus is painted .
But like wood working and other old styled hand skilled forms of art some will stay true to have a real person do it.

Biggest reason for HOK is the kandy colors and other special effects. I looked at AA and they don't have the kandies I need. I have talked to other professional airbrush artist. They all use different paint, but they say when it comes to kandy, HOK is the only way to go. Just from their available selection, I would have to agree.

I disagree to an extent. The quality of hok kandy has gone to complete excrement. I just use up what I already have, otherwise I use SEM color horizons and lately matrix which is cheaper and a carbon copy of hok color line, kandy and basecoats.

Thanks Immortal. I'll have to look into those.

You weren't kidding about Matrix being a carbon copy of HOK. Their FX line has a similar logo and references HOK color numbers. Now that I look at them, I knew a guy that had a full Matrix Paint mixing setup at his auto body shop. He closed up shop years ago when he moved though. In your experience, has matrix been quality paint?

I love it and have made the switch for quiet awhile now. It's gaining in popularity and I know Mike Learn, Nubs and others have switched to them as well. Matrix had a booth at SEMA this year. It's damn good paint and cost effective. Their clears are top notch too and easy to spray. The chemist for matrix is the former chemist of PPG back when ppg was great paint.
