Hi guys!

I project to buy a Micron ... Is the MAC valve really worth the extra bucks ? Or an good external valve is good? If you guys have a good one to suggest (my ebay crap ... is crap...)

Because i want an .18 setup (like the CM-B) ... and buy a cmc+ and a conversion kit... ouffff $$$$$ !!!

The only other difference is the paint cup design. The CMC has a huge base which won't really do well with just a few drops of paint. The CMC Plus has a funnel shaped base of the cup which allows for a few drops to be used at a time. I still use an external MAC valve on my CMC Plus, it works just fine.

External imo. I don't use a mac valve cause I personally don't see the purpose, but also being built in that's just one more part that can fail.

I think external valves do the job pretty well

And have a notable difference in details between the 0,18mm and 0,23mm needle?

Yes and no. I can get same detail from both but it's easier with a .18. With a .23 you can have best of both worlds with finer details and broader spray

Ok ... but now i have an hp-c+ ...the difference with .23 and .30 worth the money? Or im better to go with a .18...

Yes, the CMC Plus head design is much better, especially at low pressure. My HP-CH doesn't spray near as well as my Micron. It's a great brush, but the low psi atomization and trigger response are just better on the Micron.

Ok! Do you still use youre ch since you have a micron?

Micron vs HP-C+, huge difference in my opinion. The microns are pricey for a reason, they are one hell of a precision machine. The trigger is completely different from other airbrushes as they have very soft springs and quick response. To me theres a great deal of difference between the .30 and the .23 and with that being said, if the micron had a .30 setup in it, it would still be different than just spraying with the HP-C+. Once again, the Micron is only as good as the artist using it so results will vary. I for one never saw a need for the mac valve in the CMC-C+ and just used my external valves until I caught a great deal on a CMC-C+ and let me tell you, in my opinion, the extra money for the built in valve is worth it to me because I never have to move my airbrush if Im in fine and tight and can adjust my air pressure right at the nozzle. I was completely against them until I used one and now I would trade for it haha. I know each will have their own opinion and inevitably it is up to you, what do you want? Both brushes are worth the money, I have and use them both and love em both. Best of luck

So you set your compressor at higher pressure and fine tuning with the mac?

Personally I always have my compressor set for my CS with external MAC even though I use my CM-C+ 90% of the time an adjust the MAC on that by feel. So in essence I keep my compressor at around 25 psi and chock down the micron to where I am spraying at 10-15 all the time. Also I like the MAC on the Micron as it feels better then having the external MAC.

Yeah, I still use it. Not for ultra fine detail on a small piece. I use it for my base painting of non detailed areas and backgrounds. I generally only use the Micron when I need real fine detail or control. The .23 can be used for just about anything Illustration wise though.

Also blackthorne my personal opinion is that . 23 is small enough for pretty much anything you need. I can lay a line as thin as a sharpened pencil yet still have enough spread for blends.

Yes I leave my air pressure on my small compressor at 22psi and adjust as needed on my micron. Makes it handy when I change airbrushes as crewcheif was describing. The 22psi works great with all my other brushes (unless Im doing shirts or hats) so it works great having the mac valve on the airbrush to dial in a lower psi with the micron. I have quick connects on all my airbrushes so I just use the same hose and disconnect and reconnect as needed.
