What is the least tacky frisket film?

Hi all,

I have been doing a few experiments using Artool matt frisket on 250gms Bristol board.
I have tried to make it much less tacky using the 'stick it on a t-shirt method' 4 or five times before applying but it still seems to pull the paper surface away on removal even when applied with very light pressure and only being on for a matter of a few hours at most.

I just wondered if it may be a brand thing or if there were any other tips I could try?

Thanks in advance for any info or advice.

Ive had this problem aswel with the bristol board paper, i just kept sticking it to my clothes until almost all of the stickiness was gone, ive even had the paper pull up with standard masking tape ive had for just holding it down to the board, caused me some grief and a lot of cursing lol
I use stuff i got in Easons thats used for covering skool books, its the same as frisket in my eyes and it was only £11 for a 50 meter roll

Hi, artool and original frisket do stick quite a lot, the createx brand sticks a lot less but is much thinner, so a no go in your plotter.

As said above createx works pretty well, but keep in mind some paper just isn't suitable to use frisk on. If you still ruin the paper while using the createx frisk one just can't frisk that paper.

In general frisk is made to be used as a masking tool so if it damages the paper most of the time it will be the paper thats not suited to use it on.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

@haasje , Aah, ok. I didn't even think about the paper not being suitable.

@matty171 , yes I have had exactly the same problems as you even with super lo-tac masking tape as well so I guess it must be the Bristol board to a larger extent. Did you find the book covering works better - less tearing - on the Bristol or do you use a different paper/board now?

Does anyone have any recommendations for paper or board that performs better when using frisk?

Thanks again.

Hi graham

Like i said mate i had to really de-tack the life out of it so i didnt tear the surface, i now use the german 4G stuff but to be honest i dont really use the frisket anymore so i cant say if its any good but if i remember ive read on here that its ok, but the 4G is expensive so if its for practice purposes its not the way to go.

Schoellershammer 4g airbrush board works perfect when using frisk. Like matty said it's a bit more expensive, but its made with airbrushing in mind so the paper fibers don't get weakened by the paint (most often the cause of frisk or any other stuff damaging the paper).

I'm sure there is other stuff around that works just as well but that would requier some research.

When using paper you haven't used and you want to mask t's advisable to first paint a small part, mask it an see if it gets damaged upon removal of the mask (most paper isn't made with airbrushing/masking in mind)

The least tacky frisket? - the one with the least amount of sequins, sparkles and gold plating of course :D

Have you tried something like spray mount repositionable? Not sure how it is on paper but it is a spray glue that is you can stick in place and then move around if needed.

Also if you have a metal board you can make paper masks and stencils and hold them down with magnets - if you angle your brush away from the edges you can avoid any underspray.

Just a couple of possible alternatives, if you can't find a frisket that works for you.

Stop pickin on me or madbrush be like goin all Gordon Ramsey on yo ass[emoji14][emoji14][emoji14][emoji14][emoji14]
I'm sorry I did leave the sheep out of it . But I did bring the monkey into it. And who said that would be picking on you. It all in how interpret it.

OK, you win again, it's just not my day, and that has got to be @Seamonkey s fault, I'm surprised he was allowed back at all with all the problems he's caused:cry::)

:eek:ops:spray mount repositionable -I believe it was this behavior that created my best creation to this day my son.:ninja::rolleyes::ninja:

:whistling:Plus it is a solid airbrush masking technique

spray mount repositionable @Squishy really didn't think you were that kinda girl I would expect that behavior from @Madbrush or even @Seamonkey

But no that is the way I have been working shielding over masking unless I am using uros
I am definitely NOT that kind of girl!!!! It's just something I discovered when I went on my usual site "Pure and Innocent as the Driven Snow". com, and clicked on a link for Halos - Polishing and Positioning Perfection (mine had been nudged by a slightly soiled cherub), and to my horror the link instead showed something known as"sticky repositioning" - to use "street" talk. I had no idea such evils existed in our world, and accidentally watched the whole thing. I bleached my retinas afterwards, but it was too late, the image had burnt on.

But as I had already taken one for the team, I thought I should share the experience with those less worldly than myself, to raise awareness, without them having to subject themselves to the horrors of seeing the visual nastiness itself. No need to thank me, it's just what I do, and who I am. Just a saintly soul, who lives only to better the lives of others, and make the world a happier place, whilst keeping the voices of a choir of angels in top condition, as the heavenly host follows me around to provide the soundtrack of my life.

It is true however, I do base my behaviour on @Seamonkey and @Madbrush. And I like to think that although they set the example, I have taken their goodness and purity, and surpassed them. But they should not feel second best, but feel proud, as it is through their teachings, I have become the personification of all that is good and right in this universe. We are the tripod - The Squishy, The Brush, and the Holy Monkey.

I have homed myself in the gutter to be where I am needed most, and to be a beacon of hope to all.
