Quick paint question.

Just dropping by to ask a quick question. I have a big project coming soon, that will need a big base coat. So I was wondering if I can spray the base coat with a rattle can paint, and then airbrush on top of that? I will be using Createx Wicked paints. Thank you.

You can , will it get a top coat clear? If so I would make sure the base coat and clear are the same brand to avoid reaction issues. Also keep in mind that most rattle can paints won't fully cure for a week or so.

Ok. Thanks. And yes I will also clear it. I'm working on corn hole boards so any advice at all for this project will be greatly appreciated.

Yes and no , What is the project ? Will it be in the weather?
Most times you can get by with using rattle can as a base , But if it is in the weather it may not hold up a long time even if you use a 2k clear.

Doing corn hole boards. Wood. Really curious about how to clear the finished work. But would like as many tips as possible.

A pic would probably help a bit, but failing that, wood is porous as we all know.
Once we have done our base [ sealing ] layer, whatever else we throw at it should stay put.
Doesn't always behave that way, but.
I'd suggest maybe a clear urethane coat?
I've just re-done our bathroom sealing with Cabot's Cabothane clear [ on pine lining board ] and it looks great!
I'm thinking this might be a good one for a wood base.

Would airbrushing on latex based interior or exterior house paint be ok?

If you mean puting this onto wood then no its not intended for that, if it's on the interior walls then yes, if you are doing a mural an an interior wall latex wall paint is an accrotible base for airbrushing into.

Latex paint on wood left in the sun would start to flake fairly quick no matter what you put on top of it.

I'm going to be painting corn hole boards.

And as I understand it this a game played outdoors?, if do you cannot use household latex based emulsions for this purpose, as I said will flake after just a few times in the sun.
