Paint and kids

I have 19 month old daughter.The only place to paint is when the weather is decent,shut bedroom door open window.A couple of times she has opened door to see what I am doing.Using etac with water- wicked with home brew denatured.How dangerous are these paints.Also I can't lie if I'm in the house alone and it's cold - can't open window, I just paint.How much whatever actually ends up in air and not substrate. Thanks
 
Have spent relentless,obsessive hours watching different people paint never seen respirator.
 
They can't wear a mask/respirator and talk you through what they're doing. Many will also state that fact at some time during their video tutorial. ALWAYS mask up if you don't have a ventilation system set up. Yes, even with water based !!
If your toddler has a habit of walking in then I'd suggest sorting out a ventilation system asap. Don't put anyone's lungs at risk. It's to late when the damage is done.
If you still doubt the need then spray black for about an hour, then blow your nose !!!!
 
I can lay out some plans for a heat recovery ventilator, its not ideal obviously but id say with etac just a dust mask,
 
Good luck getting your toddler to wear a mask before she walks in !!
 
Do windows open count for ventilation.I only paint window closed when home alone and very briefly,cause I am craving to airbrush.
 
Dust mask/respirator/ventilation now or oxygen mask later.
Remember when asbestos was safe ?

Open window plus fan to force the air out of the window. if the wind is blowing in the house what good is it to open a window.
another option if it is in your budget find a self storage unit that is affordable and has live power in it's units and use that for a paint studio. Most are climate controlled .
 
How about a box fan with a furnace filter attached? Might be better than nothing.
 
Hrv home built is the way to go, thats my plan anyway, as soon as i get in my studio,,, were working on it,
 
Mr.Micron I have thought of that, the storage unit thing.I would love to have place where I can just paint.
