Hi, im a happy puppy who just fell in love with this thing. anyways, since the results can be so outstanding made by airbrush, i have by all my mistakes learned that, paint behave difrent, difrent brands and so on, thats ofc a thing you should be aware of and be able to work with, for difrent reasons.

BUT, there are, after what i understand about 3-4 realy good manufakturers of the top of the line making paint for airbrushes and such. I knew about createx, and after trying a bit with acryl+water, Createx was what i tried. and, the Createx wicked is a very good one, realy black, its working with thin lines from time to time, and realy thin fades are not always possible for me, after a while the thin line cloags up and the line turns into chaos.

i use Badger Renegade Krome 0,35 & 0.21 needles. But, when i try COMART opace black. its way difrent. i can paint on almost min air and still get and almost not vissable line. i started with comart by recomendation and i have never regret a secound,. Still. if you are going to paint more than a clayboard, toy, lure and other midsize things, they tend to get pretty expensive in the long run. The controll is PERFEKT in my opinion, Createx wicked are OUTSTANDING when it comes to color big and make great stencilwork sinse the colors are very good. still, if i need ONE LINE. then i put 1 dropplet black in, and 1-2 dropplets reducer to get a flow. That paint will lasts for 15-20 Lines. with comart ill take 2 ready dripps and its done. with little less opacity thouh.

But does anyone Have any experience of Createx Illustrator. They seem realy nice, i've allready ordered them and judging from what ive seen, then we¨ll all be allright.

What color (waterbased) color do you find the over all best? what do you reduce with, HQ reduer or sum alc n water? Is there any more but, Comart, Createx. I realy feel that there is a massive bunch of alternatives out there, What do you think? I thinks its a big mess, almost all colors are good, but all have slight bad sides.

WP_20150111_21_31_31_Pro.jpg This is done with standard akryl from the gasstation.

WP_20150416_21_22_08_Pro.jpg This is done with comart transparent colors.

When you ask what paint is best it's a bit like asking what food one likes best :D. You'll get a lot off diffrent answers as tastes do tend to differ. As I read more than one post on this subject on this and other forums I do get the impression though that people in general tend to like that paint best which they worked longest with as they know exactly how that paint works. When checking another paint one often won't like it as one excpects it to behave like the paint one is used to... which it just won't do.

The first piece you do with a paint will give you an idea of how the paint works/behave after another few pieces you'll get an understanding of the paint and another few pieces in you'll actualy develop a feel for the paint (damn that sounds deep :p)

The same goes for reducers, I tend to stick with the transparant base of the brand I use to dilute the color and just plain water for the reduction.

The colors I use at the moment are mainly E'tac and Createx Illustration I switched to those from schmincke as that gave me some problems with my micron

yeah i guess its probably best to maintain the possibility of diversity. i guess i was stuck on the thought that there is probably a way to make these colors perfekt, with todays knollege, and if there was ONE result, then probably would be here allready. i still feel that iwatas comartcolors are more allround.
Going to be real fun to try Illustrator.

Did anyone here ever did your own color with pigment and sutch?

true as you said, i use wicked with reducer 500 for medium size jobbs where i need an even and warm surface, Createx standard white/black/when i need to cover upp some doodle och whatever on there. (its quite thick, even reduced with water) And The ComArt are right now Outstanding. to cover all that space witch it does is amazing since its so so wet. the transparents are also just something else. Its the only color i use today witch i never had an uneven line with. (thanks to the color)

Createx Illustration is what I use the most. It works on pretty much any substrate I've tried.
I do prefer ETAC EFX with 4G illustration board though. The lack of tip dry and soft erasing capabilities are great.
Com-Art sprays well but doesn't erase and scratch as well as CI and EFX in my opinion.

All of the above paints are great, the Etac is outstanding, the wicked/CI is also amazing, i really like the way the Trident paints flow and seem to last forever, the Holbien paint pop like no other but have a lot of tip dry. Its all a matter of trial & error i have def bought far to many brands of paint but i wanted to try them all :)

As long as the Wicked reducer smell like it does, I will never use it. And as long as the E'tac medium smell like candy, I will use it. There are tons of paint brands out there. The Createx lines are just popular because of advertising and ease of availability. In Europe other brands are more popular.

If Com-art had the same colours as E'tac I would not have changed. It is cheaper and I know the ins and outs of that paint. Depending on the surface it can be erased and scraped.

Now that I have tried createx, wicked, and comart I will say this. As a beginner buy the comart set that has opaque and transparent. So far I'm loving comart as well as wicked. But the comart straight fr bottle sprays so easy. You still get tip dry with the black and white straight but it's much slower then what I have seen compared to my wicked. However I did get a bad bottle of black wicked.

The Etac paints are also great straight out if the bottle. Glad you have found a paint that lets you concentrate on just painting!!

I'll probably grab some etc also. BTW what brand is good for auto painting? Getting fairing for my Harley and I'm tempted to paint it myself this winter if I get control of brush to my satisfaction.
