Made a mistake with chipping medium

First of all, I need a slap. I used chipping medium for the first time yesterday, ran some air brush cleaner through it....but didn't do it as much as I should.

Came back the next day, the nozzle is completely plugged up. Can't even get a needle through it.

I used Vallejo chipping medium

I have an iwata eclipse 0.3 mm

Have taken off the nozzle, soaked it in white spirit for an hour, tried to use an old needle to try and get the hardened chipping medium out....but it is stuck.

So...new nozzle? Or is there an easy way to 'dissolve' chipping medium?

I do not think you are going to dissolve it, but as it is an acrylic base, you may be able to soften it. You could try soaking it (just the nozzle) in some warm, to moderately hot window washing solution, with ammonia in it. This will usually soften acrylic paint, and you may be able to pick it out with an old needle. Do not use the solution on the rest of the airbrush, as it can react with the chrome finish.

If all else fails, new nozzle. Good luck!

I'd also be concerned that there is medium still sticking to the internal paint channel as well......

Thanks, will probably just get a new nozzle.

The internal paint channel seems safe, can run a needle through it without a problem (stuck at first but after running the needle all the way through it it is going through fine)

but you may have medium in there that has narrowed the channel and cause future issues
