DIY gesso with marble dust, recipe wanted

I’ve been looking for a diy recipe of gesso using marble dust and pva glue. There are lots on YouTube but generally so gagingly goofy I can’t finish them. I bought a few cheepy canvases from michaels and want to smooth and stiffen them. I’m planning to play with hairy brushes and acrylic paints (starting a painting class soon). I’ve used yupo for airbrushing and thought I’d try the canvass too.
That said, I think it should be something like 2 parts dust, 1part glue, and enough water to thin it to desired viscosity.
Would appreciate any hints or formulas.

Most of the time folks use Chalk and pva due to it is harder to come by marble dust then chalk dust , Some even use lime stone dust .
