The gloss black is part of the quicksilver system.. which is part of the overall createx system which means they shouldn't peel. I would call createx or coast airbrush if you can.

Youre saying it peeled back down to your primer filler?
As in the black came off and took everything else with it

I would probably only 400 sand , 800 wet is pretty slick for prepwork
Gloss black has a long dry time, be sure to give it an hour or two before going over it.

Apart from that you may have to use the autoborne sealer or different primer, Ive had createx peel off rust oleum primer filler before.
which I 600 wet sanded because the particular primer filler didnt like to be sanded and would clog 400 dry.
Yet It was fine on rust oleum 2 in 1 sandable primer filler

My take on this is that the paint over the quicksilver peeled....Is this correct?

I'm sure he means the gloss black peeled off and everything above it came with it, he doesn't mention if the helmet should have been cleaned and primed before applying the gloss black, also doesn't mention what the helmet is made of, might have needed an adhesion promoter before the black.

Is it possible the gloss black was not compatible with the filler primer...Or the black was applied too heavy on the first pass?....
Mmmm...That is it from this brain today....oh...And what reducer and how much was used if any with the black?...

Personally id put autoborne sealer over the primer filler or at least a straight out primer.
Ive had too many compatibility issues with a lot of different paint when it comes to at least one part primer fillers. Mostly with enamels or waterborne paint over top of them
    But at the least
Let the primer sit a day or two after sanding in a warm location.
The primer will probably say you can paint over it soon as its dry but that doesnt account for waterborne coatings.
    It needs to outgas.

IN that case, what reducer did you use... it is possible that is the thing that caused the incompatability.

Depending on where you are, you can use bulldog. Proper prep (not saying you didnt), I sand, bulldog, then primer, then my base. Sure does help. What kind of tape did you use? Sometimes it helps to de-tack it

    Createx did email to me.

Perhaps you applied it fairly heavy? Gloss Black is a special product, it really should be given a few hours before use. If you wish, much better adhesion is achieved by applying 6002 AutoBorne Sealer black, then 4258 Gloss Black, followed by 4104 Quicksilver.

To ensure 4258 Gloss Black remoains glossy when it comes into contact with 4014, allow 4258 extended drying time, much longer than normal Createx paints. 4 – 6 hours would help get a much more reflective effect with 4104 as 4258 looses some gloss if its not fully cured when the 4014 is applied.
