like th title says...I have several Mac brushes and others that I never used and stored in a zip lock bag. Are they still good? Still fluffy and soft so not sure what I need to do to them etc. wanted to learn to stripe but never got around to it.

    Thanks

Hi Joe, since you have never used them they should be ok. When you do use them dip them in oil after you have painted and cleaned them, clean motor oil will be fine although I use neatsfoot oil. I store mine in a tin. When you want to use them again clean out the oil with mineral spirits, oil once again when you go to store them.

Thanks lee all good news. I read about cleaning them in soapy water before use as well. Got some one shot ordered so look forward to giving it a whirl

I’ll order some neatsfoot oil and a box as well

Yeh thats before you first use them, they usually come with some sort of size or glue in the hairs, you give them a good wash out and then mineral spirit before you start striping. Mineral spirit again to clean and oil to store. Clean motor oil will be fine and you will probably have some laying around in the garage.

Just clean the fluffy ones in the mineral spirit then, or to make sure wash them first too. It wont hurt.
