jus signed up. I'm an engineer with essentially NO artistic talent. I fish and have a box of old, damaged lures and thought I could airbrush the finish on them and re-use. So to rejuvenate $50 worth of lures a bought a couple hundred of equipment. I got started trying to figure out how to get paint out of the thing onto paper and thought it was kinda fun. Now I'm kinda getting into it and would like to improve my sorely lacking skills, hence, I joined this forum.

    welcome aboard Jayhawk,
time for the obligatory 101 questions
    where are you from,
    what paints do you use
what airbrush do you currently have
what did you have for breakfast

don't panic about the lack of artistic talent, you'll be amazed and what you can do with a little help from your new friends here. There are a few members that do lures so I'm sure they'll happily help you along. @basepaint is one of them,

there is generally someone around regardless of the time of day/night, there are a few insomniacs around and a good global offering

Welcome aboard Jayhawk, sounds like you got the AB bug already :) Quite a few people get into it for a specific purpose, but pretty soon everything starts looking like a canvas.

Any questions shout out, and as Steve pointed out photos make it easier to advise. Enjoy the forum.

I live in Rockledge Florida which is near Cape Canaveral on the central east coast. My primary free time thing is fly fishing and fly tying. Lately I've spent a lot of time trying to get friendly with this AB. Don't have much to show yet as I've mostly just been practicing lines, dots, and shading. I have been doing butterflies and getting some success. Actually been reasonably impressed.
I have an Iwata Eclipse HO-CS with the .35 nozzle, and am using Com-art transparent paint.
Right now I'm having a wired problem. I started to do some practice stuff tonight and the paint wouldn't flow much at all. I cleaned he brush well. Air flows. I can blow rough the nozzle. Wierd thing is it will flow isopropyl alcohol ok but not water. If I blow on the cup I can get a good water flow through it. I've checked the air nozzle and can see through it. Air pressure is 50# ( roughly3.5 bar). I don't get it. Do I need a new nozzle? How long should they last? This one has 10 to 20 hours on it.

Welcome from another Canadian :) check that you don't have an air-leak, and that your needle is seated properly and when you think the nozzle is clean.... clean it again... you shouldn't have to replace your nozzle yet unless you accidentally damaged it, The nozzle on a CS looks like it's 2 pieces but it's a sealed unit and should not be taken apart.
