Ive got this reference I want to do but it has a full texture all over it and I don't know how to replicate it. Anybody got any ideas what I can do to get the effect?

It's something I want to do mainly for the ladies on here seeing us blokes get a few of our own drooling material on here.

Build your base much as you would with any B&W, and make sure all the canvas white gets a light overspray at the end. Then grab your eraser out and erase in those veins and such, soften them back down with a heavily reduced black and put a shadowline underneath or on top pending on light source. the actual texturing can be done in much the same fashion. remember the texture at the closest point to the camera needs to be in focus, as it curves around the body do the same texture strokes but add some distance, this will cause the texture to look natural as texture further away from the camera generally becomes blurred..personally i would consider doing this piece on a black canvas base and reversing the process, its generally much easier to replicate the whites than it is the blacks, best of luck and hope it helps a little..Long story short, its really no different to a portrait, just easier.

It's very similar to that one he did, I've watched his one yesterday but he didn't put much detail into it.

The Texture FX 2 set has an organic stencil that would create some of those texture when used from a little distance.

    Looks like 'the hulk'
It was Lee's lime green mankini that distracted you wasn't it!!

A folder with plastic 'sleeves' in it works well for stencils.

Well saved, now its the hulk without a head LOL...Have another crack mate and thin those blacks down more :) Build it up nice and slow and one tip, try painting a little bigger not much but enough to give you some leeway on the stroke buildup, once you have the hang of bigger then learn the control needed to paint smaller, it may help..Good luck.

I have no experience with masking, erasing and scratching, so I can only tell you how I did that specific skintexture freehand once.

It is like doing figure 8's . Very very tiny figure 8's (in different direction, they do not have to stand up all the time) and very very close to each other, even overlapping. And you can soften the 8 like things by lightly overspraying them with one of the used skin colors.

It is a time consuming but rewarding method.
