I am though with Yupo

Airbrush Dreams

Air-Valve Autobot!
Not sure where I wanted to put this post. I started a new project as a gift for a friend yesterday. I wanted to do a 16x20 painting on Synthetic Paper so I figured I would give the Yupo 144# another chance. I cut my piece out and began working away. 2 hours in I was lightly using my scratch brush and a chunk of the surface paper tore right up leave a nice noticeable hole right in the center. Obviously the top laminated layer is not adhered properly. I will stick to Illustration Board and Blair Synthetic. Yupo you are dead to me.

That is horrible! I have not had that same issue, so wonder if it was a batch deal or what? But, will say the first time it does happen, I will walk away too!

Fred, I would like to see you try a sheet of TerraSlate. It is working very good for me at this time. They advertise that you can't rip or tear it. It is softer plastic than Yupo. I've found with just scratching very softly will take a little of the plastic off with the paint.

I tried the lighter weight Yupo and it worked a bit better. Blair’s paper does respond much better for adherence of the paint.

I tried a sample of TerraSlate a while back. The only thing I didn’t care for is when erasing and scratching it left a mark on the paper. Once my CI is used up I won’t be using synthetic most likely.

Everyone has their own likes and dislikes with paper and it's good to read pros and cons with what they use.
I did pick up a way you transfer images to the paper from one of your videos using the camera lucida. I use a computer instead of phone app with it and it does work great so far. A little hard to get used to moving the pencil along with the image but going slow, it is working good for me.
Thanks for sharing that with the forum Fred.
