wife got an airbrush set for decorating frosting. It came with a Master C22 dial actin gravity feed. I tried it for giggles and it seems to be an ok brush. Even at 10# it blew "paint". You use food grade colors for frosting, even though we're doing home made dog biscuits. Hard to do an detailed work as the colors are so thin it splatters too much.
Anybody hear about that gun?

the brush is a common knock off. generally they 'll you a single drop of colour from a distance of a few inches (so the air pressure doesn't dent the cake fondant, if its 'splattering' then I'd suggest the pressure is to low.
test on paper first to find the sweet spot for the food dye viscosity. if you have the external mac valve then just pull the trigger and adjust the mac valve until you get the spray right. Too high and you'll wind up with the piece your painting getting damaged (and paint overspray every where) to low and it will just splatter like you've mentioned.
Most proficient cake decorators will use Wilton or similar rather than just the stuff you pick up in the market.
