So, I was looking around at compressors... I have a shop and a couple hundred gallons of air storage/ /35 cfm give or take... But, no reason to fire that up for an airbrush...
SO... was looking for something quiet... The "airbrush compressors" are ridiculously overpriced for their quality and performance... So, I went searching in the industrial world...
    CHECK IT OUT!

    https://www.powerequipmentdirect.com/stories/1364-How-to-Buy-a-Quiet-Air-Compressor.html

Great write up... PLUS a link to "quiet compressors".... from small to "big".
    https://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/tools/quiet-air-compressors.html

Can sort by size, etc... for "airbrush" I just sorted 1 to 2 hp....
    https://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/tools/1-2-hp-quiet-air-compressors.html

Just tossing this out there. The "Hulk" compressors are made by emax... high end industrial stuff...
AND decibal ratings UNDER 50 with tons more air.
Under 175 bucks there are compressors that one could use for a mini hvlp limited use..

    Hope this helps someone out.

Anyway... point is I was looking for a small, quiet, inside the house piece.... (My shop is attached to the house, so could pump air in, but running a 5 or 7.5 hp compressor for an airbrush is a little overkill)
BUT, the Hulk line has decibel ratings down into the 30's!!

It's a nice compressor, but isn't 2hp overkill for airbrushing?
One thought, given a decent sized tank and pressure control/switch, wouldn't a bigger compressor actually be more economical?

$161.99 for 45 decibel, not bad at all.

    Sprry links did not work...
2 gal is way overkill... but fill time, recover time, NOISE level, and rated quality. They are rated as better than consumer use...
Amazon has the 2gal one for 137 bucks... shipped!!
Room to grow... QUIET, better quality than most..

lets try this link... did not want to give you all access to my amazon account

Ah, the "Eagle"? I have to admit, I'm not sure what the "duty cycle" actually means here - for the Hulk it's not given. Above for "larger compressor" I was thinking a line from the one in the shop, BTW.

It's not your fault. I don't know why they blocked europe, it doesn't make sense. I used proxy, but I feel stupid that they are forcing me to do that :)

    edit:amazon link works

This reminds me- I've always wanted to replace the air filter on my compressor with a supposedly quieter one. I've heard it can make a big difference on the noise. Just no time or money to find out!

Yeah no thanks I'll stick with my trusty Craftsman compressor. Made in the USA. Says so on the sticker they put over the made in China sticker...

This is correct. The air intake makes a ton of noise. I also put my compressors on wood skids, bolted solid to skid, then on rubber to floor....
    It made a difference...

I am not trying to convince anyone... just ran across this... I have done business with the compressor place before... it just popped up in email..
For my money, I will pay 137 for a quiet compressor, wait 3 to 5 weeks, instead of 100 for the California air.. made in china... with half the power, half the output...
Duty cycle.... it is the percent of time the "X" can operate... IE, if something has a 50% duty cycle, it can run 50% of the time... and off the other 50%
Cheap welders are rated with high amps and low duty cycle... like 20%... This makes it look like it has some ass, but you can only weld in short bursts... it must cool down before you can go again.
A "real" air compressor will have a 100% duty cycle... can run constant until the cows come home.

For a welder, I got it. Just wondering what it meant for a compressor. Thanks. Let us know how it checks out!

Any clues on figuring out what thread I would need? I guess I could probably pop the old one off and go to Ace hardware just to get the pipe thread size. Any recommendations on a good silencer type filter? Sounds like you're pretty familiar with compressors! Its like a 3/4 hp 2 gallon Craftsman- got a carry handle on it. My gf doesn't like it, cuz when it kicks on it scares the crap out of her granddaughter and makes her cry. Then I end up sleeping with the dogs that night!

I found the setup on youtube years ago...I apologize, but I completely forgot what I had done to the filter side.
