Been working on some mini practice pieces to get my brain wrapped around this Synthetic Paper. I have been trying to find a way to make soft skin texture like Dru has in his portrait of Tika.

Every stroke of the erase, or sand paper leaves me with way to harsh of scratch marks that don't look convincing to myself. I can do fur and feathers but soft skin texture has been a mind bender.

Today I was at an end and about to say I give up. Standing in my front doorway looking out over the cloud filled sky I prayed to the Lord to reveal to my mind how I can do what I am searching for. I know your probably saying, don't be so dramatic but it is the truth. Well as I went back to my art desk I wanted to sharpen up my aggressive eraser on a piece of sand paper I use sometimes instead of a knife. I couldn't find it. I must have gone through all the drawers five time and suddenly I noticed the 000 steel wool sitting in the one corner. I figured, "why not and behold it worked perfectly. Lol God revealed it to me by hiding that sandpaper from my sight even though I found it right on top of my paint brushes, but only after I tried the steel wool![IMG]the piece to the right was today's multiple trial and errors.

    God bless you!:)

It's good idea to experiment with steel wool.
I haven't bought all the types of it yet. Though have some trials with those that are already here and I like the results.
BTW I've bought first packages of the wool after Michael posted his results on different erasing tools he has:)

When you erase the pores spray back over them with the original paint and they will sink back into the skin. This is why dru adds white to his paint so he can respray over it without making it darker :)

Tried that but they still seemed to darken a bit. I figured it was because they weren't at full saturation to begin with or there wasn't enough white in the mix. Thanks because those are the things I need to learn. Being that I came from the school of transparency. Ha Ha!

Sounds like you didn't have the paint at full saturation!
