I had put a .2 needle in my hp-c + when i first got it and it wouldnt spray very well... after some thought i came up with the idea to polish the tip of the needle...so i used a piece of polishing compound (see attached pic) I had cut a tiny notch with my knife and polished (carefully) as you can see in the pic it was black from the metal..now its sprays awesome with hardly any tip dry..20150311_233329_resized.jpg

oh....you could use the cordlesss drill thing to speed up the process but extra extra care would be needed

When you say Polishing compound, can you expand on what it is?

It looks like the bars of polish that u use on polishing mops to polish metal. Available in different grades

I use Jewelers polish , piece of leather strap and a cordless drill.
I have found there is less chance of any damage using the leather strap (like barbers would do on a razor strap) and it does take out all the milling marks leaving a perfectly smooth needle when you are finished.
But there is always a risk involved in polishing a needle .

best i can describe is a compound bar that you would apply to a buffing wheel on a bench grinder before buffing metal there are several different grades (grits so to speak) i have a few different colors for aggressiveness...wish i knew where i picked it up from ...been several years cant remember slept since then...lol

Sorry guy's, I was having a senior moment! Of course .... I have some in my work drawer for my buffing wheel! Dhoo

if i could only polish the nozzle......that would take a microscopic buffing wheel....lol

Why not "lap" it in with the needle and polish compound? Like with Valves?

ok I use diamond compound used for sharpening strait razors on a microfiber cloth. As was as spinning the needle I like to use a dremel with a chuck attachment.

I used to polish my needles but stopped doing it after I had several needles started to fail after a while : polish takes off metal and you risk you take in doing so is ending up with a needle that wont close off the nozzle anymore , even if you are in luck and it sprays better at first the risk is still there as the pigments in the paint will cause wear on the needle and nozzle and it is only a matter of time till the needle will fail to close the nozzle .
This is why I bought the marissa k33 needle that is made from a different metal and polished to match the nozzle

I'm glad you said coffee damage! I thought for a moment with all this "polishing" talk it might be something else  LOL!
