try 4-5:1 reduction or more, art a bit of trans base and you're good to go.

As stated 4 drops reducer to 1 drop paint to start out on.and add reducer until you get the flow you like. Being that set does not come with Trans Base it you have a need you can always pick up a bottle . But unless you are using .18 or .15 I doubt you will need it. Through the .35 Eclipse Cs @ 30 PSI it works great at 4 to 1. At least for me it does.

Ok, so after thr flames, how did the paint work for ya? It can be a slight beech in the beginning, but once you find that happy mixture, its really good paint to work with. Plus, its the paint your gonna wanna use in that Harley. Auto Air is also good!!

I love Wicked paints, and the trans (detail) colours really pop after clearing, perfect for painting on bikes, although I use them on everything. I don't find the need to add any trans base, but then I use .35 at around 20 -25 psi. I don't know what reducer your set came with, but for automotive I really recommend the w500. Hope you like em, how did those flames turn out?

I think all the new kits do come with W500 , the older kits came with W100

They do indeed come with w 500. Just bought a set. Going to get trans base and a few detail bottles... Although i do worry over the age of the single bottles ive seen.

As a relative newbie on the paints thing, [ I started out with inks ] I'm curious to know what the difference is between the wicked [ regular ] and the detail {or is that Illustrator?} lines.
I can get them from Airbrush Australia for a reasonable price, but before I spend the money, I'd like to know what the general consensus on it is.

I picked up the same set but have yet to try it. My question is if you reduce 4-5:1 and it comes with 1 bottle of reducer to 5 bottles of paint, this isn't going to compute well! Have more on order though!

there use to be a thread a while ago that shows the difference between the paints, I'll see if i can find it. as a side note, I started with both the wicked (detail) and the illustration range. I find the illustration flows better for me in a Iwata HP+ .2mm brush with the High Performance reducer. I will continue to use up the wicked detail but once its gone I probably wont bother buying it again. and yes @Greg Geilman, you will use a lot more reducer than paint... I remember seeing a post about painting a portrait 'with only 6 drops of paint' and I remember thinking WOW ! I now realise that it was probably 6 drops of paint and about 3 litres of reducer LOL...
Once I realised how much reducer I would go through, my next purchase included a couple of big bottles that I keep in the house (more stable climate than my shed) and decant it into the smaller bottle that I originally bought.

Here you are, here's a link to an old thread that is informative

Thanks,JackEb.
I've now had a read of it and it has answered most of my queries.
Like you, I also go through heaps of reducer as well!
When I buy paints I normally get as large a bottle of the stuff as I can afford, to go with it.

You have to remember, Greg, that you're talking drops at a time here, and not litres - like house paint - so it's going to last a while.
Unless your like me - butterfingered - and knock it off the bench, with the lid open.!Dang it!

I can not understand their logic with this either. You will always use more reducer so why not include more in the set. You will have to get some more. At least another 4oz bottle.

I have gone through 4 oz of reducer just practicing with Com-Art. I can imagine how much I am going to use with Wicked! I do notice they really don't have any transparents though which is largely what I have been using.

Createx is semi opaque, wicked detail and illustration are both transparent. Transparent base is clear paint, which make the paint more transparent.
Reducer thins the paint which makes it spray better through fine Airbrushes.
I've actually just bought opaque base so I can make any colour opaque in order to help disguise any mistake or really punch up a highlight :)
