What am I missing???

MY Wicked paint set arrived today and it is a vast improvement. I probably went 3-4 minutes before the brush started to clog and the fine lines got bigger. Amazingly vibrant color. I reduced 1:1 @ around 15 psi, no spidering problems. Will try lower ratios a little later. Interestingly, this paint is more like aniline dye than pigmented paint, so no wonder it comes out easier.

Glad you like it, the colours really are great, def play around with your ratios, you will get much more detail control, and even less tip dry :)
"CLINK".....That is the sound of the penny dropping. It explains everything pmsl!!!!!

It's what it says on the label " The adjustable design of this product is to reduce the drying time,...". And when I told Bill Edwards I need to add retarder to my paint because it dries too quickly in the African heat, he said that was what "Condition-air" was for.

Thanks, I timed it at 20 mins. b3efore I had to clean the tip. The intensity of the paint makes for much less dilution or transparency resulting from reducing. Went to 150% reduction qnd still got good once-over opacity. Nice. Etac paint should arrive tomorrow and I is anxious to see how THAT performs. Anyway, now I can get in some serious practice time and not spend all of it cleaning the tip, plus I got to see how well the Sotar 20/20 pwerforms. FINALLY !!!

Paint type is such a massive underrated factor with airbrushing. People commonly go for the higher end airbrushes before just changing the type of paint they're using.
You will notice a massive difference from Wicked to Etac (in Etac's favour). You could also try Hoblein Aeroflash paints, com-art and create illustration colors - the createx being the thickest paints of those mentioned.
The most suitable type of paint you use will also be influenced by the substrate you're painting on.
Good luck bud!

This is what helps me...I add my reducer first, then my Wicked paint...shake that sucker and spray...Im impatient so I dont wait the 5 (suggested) minutes. I also dont
mix 1:1. Its reduced more than that. White...white is still a booger...but its gonna be no matter what brand of paint.

I use com art like it alot but nothing local. I also like wicked and auto air but with those I only reduce with their recommended reducer and I always reduce them by 20 percent or more. With com art I rarely reduce. Also are you shaking or stirring extremely well before you put in brush? And do you use a filter to strain? I noticed with my wicked I needed to strain cause big flakes seem to accumulate and then they get in cup. Also have you lubed the needle. In my temp and dryness I figured out I needed lubed needle or I'd get dry paint on my needle.
