My current compressor only reaches to 25PSI and I'm looking for a something a tad more powerful which I wouldn't need to upgrade right next week..
Goal is through vigorous practice get into car/bike painting..eventually.

Since I found you guys and gals here, I figured that one of you might have some input of reliability, accuracy of specs and so on
Any input much appreciated!

No, don't do it. First thing, it does not have a tank. Secondly that will only you you about 30psi continuous air. Look at a California Air or GMC compressor. They are about the same noise level but more powerful.

Is noise an issue? If not spend the money on an oil compressor as it will last the longest and will be able to keep up without overheating

Ok..I did read a little bit more about w/ tank vs. w/o.. and took your advice and started looking for the ones with tank.
Paasche da400r was an option before since you can buy one for less than 500usd and brand seems reliable.
Iwatas seem to be pretty pricey. And noise is somewhat an issue, unfortunately.

So now the question changed, lol
Any recommendations for air compressor with a tank, should be able to run to 60PSI, reliable, low maintenance, affordable and not crazy noisy. How much does the brand matter, are there definite no-no-buys?

Sorry to bug you guys and gals, I just try to avoid the usual mistake of buying equipment which in short future needs an upgrade and for that..I need your expert advice

I reckon any one out of the middle of this line up would suit you just fine, http://www.ccinetwork.com/c-65-ultra-quiet.aspx

Choose the ones you like the look of and then link your choices here and our USA buddies will put you straight, but as you will see very many are well under $500:thumbsup:
Pheww..ok, from that link after some research I found cat-1020a and cat-4610ac which of both look good and shouldn't break the wallet..any thoughts? Would 2gallon tank be enough?

Master also seem to have some inexpensive models, which of of course I don't know anything about. The tiny compressor I have now, is Master and has been working great for..well, for what it is. Wayyyy too many options when choosing the equipment and I can't tell the difference..help?

If you have room for it and the price suits you, I would go for somewhere around 4 -5 gallon, I've just bought a four gallon and it's the best thing I ever did, as well as being very quiet it only kicks in three or four times during a session so even it made a little more noise it would be no big deal, if you eventually get into cars and bikes you'll at least have something you can use.

Bear in mind that these compressors come with 1/4" quick connect so you will need some little parts to make your airbrushes work on it, but these are not expensive and we'll help you with that:)

Ok..lucky me, I'd find California air compressor(s) from local Walmart in decent price..and then I stumbled upon this one.. Any insight? Is it totally useless for $60? I tend to buy more expensive stuff in hope that the more I pay, the better it works..often so true but as I've learned..not always.

I truly appreciate you guys helping, the more I look, the more I find, unfortunately without needed knowledge..ugh.

If you want to be thrown out of your house go for an even bigger version of this one, if you get on well with your neighbors and would like to keep it that way then go for the Cal-air, ;););) cheap Walmart compressors are cheap for reason.

This one is identical to mine, except for the name, https://www.amazon.com/California-A...9_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KEXX9YNB0XYWBPPXGXXK

Wow.. That looks nice!
So I went to the Walmart and they didn't have cal-air, so I'll have to order it online.. Regardless that I'm tempted with the bigger version, I kind of do like my neighbors and since I like to paint at night..the cat-2010a is very tempting especially when it's advertised as quiet..unless you guys can think of something else I could look into? Likely I'll order it tomorrow (it's 11pm here now)..starting to get antsy here

Kidokey..I went with cat-2010a, chosen by the reviews of noise, size and price. I might have to upgrade for bigger in the future, but for know I hope it will be the miracle that turns my dots into lines..we'll see, it should arrive on Sunday and I can't wait for other frustrations to start Thank you for help, likely there will be tons of new questions in the near future

We're ready and waiting;):):)

Wheeee! Compressor is here ok, now the question part, what kind of a coupler should I be looking for and could it be found from place like Lowe's or Home Depot? What else might I need?
Compressor seems unbelievably quiet, I honestly didn't expect that

The first thing you will need if you don't already have it is a 1/4 hose with quick coupling to attach to the compressor you will find this at home depot, this one is form home depot;

After this you will need an air regulator/water filter, if you look at this photo you can see my mine with it's fittings;

20160918_174922.jpg

This one has 1/8 holes in and out so on the left of the photo I have a 1/8 male to 1/4 female adapter piece with a male 1/4 quick connect, this will go into the your hose from home depot, on the right side of the photo I have a male 1/8 to male 1/8 which your airbrush hose will screw straight onto, you regulator should come with a bracket so you can screw it to a wall or desk, it can also be clamped to a desk, you can see my set up here, if the regulator you end up with has 1/4 connection holes in and out you will only need the 1/4 male to male connection circled in red top, and then the 1/4 male to 1/8 male in blue oval top, it is important that your regulator has the same (or exceeds the) maximum pressure of your compressor.

I would assume you already have your airbrush hose already so once you get these parts your ready to go, although the pistol grip moisture tram and external micro air control valve are handy options, you see these just to the left of the three hoses.

Just ask if you need further assistance :)

Can you post up a pic of what you have. it will help us get you the correct fittings. thanks
