Classroom in a box - Finished my home work

Here is my first shot at doing it the Dru Blair way. Classroom in a box kit on Blair paper, using all the supplied materials. I enjoyed Dru's extensive online content that accompanied the kit, and certainly look forward to the next one!

It's OK I suppose, lol , just kidding it's awesome although I don't know why you needed a classroom in a box, well other than no room for school at home o_O:)

Oh, I never pass up an opportunity to learn - To watch Dru do his thing (video content), listen to his instruction, and then work on the Blair paper was an opportunity I could not pass up. You never know where you may pick up that one gem that could send your own personal work over the top where you have been trying to get :) .

that's it, I'm packing up my paints and going home !!

Nice job, I can understand why you have done this, given your enquiring mind (proved by your airbrush 'testing' ) you were curious to know how Dru does things. There are certainly things I learnt from this 'box' that I've used since so it was money well spent

have you signed up for the skull ?

Unless you're dense like me and then you pick up nothing at allo_O if I went to Dru's class I would be the one right at the back with the pointy hat with the big D on it, the one that isn't allowed to touch any of the equipment and definitely not the chemicals, unless he fancied a convenient insurance makeover then I would be let loose on the joint, even when I was at school I came away every day knowing less than I did before I went in, mind you it's hard to concentrate when your teacher happens to be double D and proud of it;)

For sure on the Skull! Looking forward to it.

I should also mention that I did this using one of the Chinese brushes I have been "testing" - with an Iwata Hp-B needle installed. Brush did exactly what it was supposed to do, and I never felt like I was fighting with it. The only issue I had was that the air valve spring retaining screw backed out and air kept flowing even when the trigger was not being pushed. Luckily I was able to regulate the paint flow enough with just the needle, that I just kept going. At the time I was doing one of the "flesh" color layers, and did not want to clean the brush before I was done with it... Re-installed the retaining screw during brush cleaning before switching colors, and never had another issue.

As I've always said. Dru's techniques could be used with damn near any airbrush. After doing a few of his classes, there was no need to use a Micron in the class. An Eclipse would have been more than enough.

The hair is part of his Textures class so i can tell you it's great!!

I live not terribly far from Dru, a fairly easy days drive, but the travel is something not easily done. I am a full time caregiver, and it would be very hard on my wife to have her in the car for that long... So, I am thrilled that he has (and is) making this stuff available! I will take all that I can get! Same with Marissa, every time she says anything, I study it. Gerald Mendez, I listen to his tips with ears WIDE open :).

This is where I have a problem . I want and need to keep my ears wide open, but then my lonely brain cell falls out. Its a scramble to pick it up, remove the dust bunnies, give it a spit wash and pop it back in before I turn blue and it can nudge the lungs to breathe again. How is a cranially challenged airbrush wannabe ever going to learn?

Hmm, I generally find my dried up brain cells on my pillow in the morning, so stuffing them back in is not such a big deal.

That being said, you might take the "classroom in the box", which really does have a wonderful array of supplies included, as well as access to some very good instructional content, and put it on the floor near your feet, with the top open. That way when your lonely brain cell falls out, it might land in the box - serving two purposes. It may keep the brain cell from picking up said dust bunnies, and some of the lesson may rub off on it before you can retrieve it to stuff it back in your head :) win - win:thumbsup:

Hmm so - lesson in a box, add brain cell, shake box vigorously (shaken not stirred, adding an olive optional)until brain cell absorbs lesson, garnish with cocktail umbrella.

If only it was that easy lol lol lol.
