you just need to think. The smoother the surface the more spidering you will probably encounter until you get the control happening. Anything is paintable with the right prep.

As Malky has said, Mdf or the coated stuff they use for wardrobe backings/drawer bottoms, a bit of Gesso and you'll be able to practise your erasing.

Just to add more info into your head... when using the hobby blade/scalpel for erasing/scratching, the term 'scratching' can lead people to be a little heavy handed with it, the technique if more of a 'stroking' with the blade, and not always just with the tip. - you're not trying to etch into the substrate, just remove a little micron layer of paint. The blades blunt quickly too so make sure you have spares

Im not familiar with 'Euro tools' but regardless, the aim with any tool used, you're just removing a thin layer of paint, not trying to engrave the substrate :D

I have euro tools and hard and soft erasers

OK, did some research.
'Eurotool' is a brand. What Fred has there is commonly known as a 2mm fiberglass scratch brush, used in electronics for cleaning PCB boards. but we found a better use for them :D They also come in 4mm.
the 4mm is easy to find, the 2mm can be a little harder to source dependning on where you live.

Theyre a great item to have in your airbrush toolbox.

Im getting some 1/4 mdf board this weekend. Picked up the gesso tonight. Sprayed some one the formica to see how i would do and actually surprised my self. Kept putting in my brain distance grasshopper distance..a few spiders but overall not to bad

Later on if you want a even better surface to scratch/erase on you can add rabbit skin glue to your gesso or make your own clayboard.

You could have just said you dropped your glasses !:)

WOW, you must be psychic because I did that too, but I managed to fish them out:thumbsup: I must say I do like the reddish brown haze the forum has now as opposed to the usual dark or light settings, even the orange parts are more vibrant now, kind of confirms what my mum always said "everything happens for a reason" she was psychic too, how else could she know that every referee during a Scotland football match was sightless and born of unmarried parents? :depressed:

Omg you all crack me up. Have a great day everyone

A gruesome journey is far less so when we can have a laugh while doing it, we thrive on helping others here and like to ease people struggles with a little humour, it doesn't always have to be hard work :) that's what makes this forum the best on the net

Most here will interject with humour from time to time. it lets us all know that we are humans, from all over the world, and that although we take our airbrushing seriously we don't take ourselves to seriously, Live life and laugh often.
As mods we could remove anything not related to the original post of a thread, but then it would be a very sterile environment, not conducive to learning outside of a classroom. There have been other airbrush forums that were run that way (All info and opinion, not a lot of laughter) Those forums have been closed due to lack of activity.
If you seek knowledge and intense learning then sign up for a classroom course, there are many available.

oops, sorry that turned into a bit of a rant

Hey im all good with the humor..keep it up. Now on another note im glad malky talked me out of staying away from com art. I finally hit the magic number with the psi. It 10 psi and the paint shoots great. CI still sprayed a little better. Only reason i wouldnt use them now is as Malky said you cant just get single bottles.
