GSI Procon boy 267 or 270

Robbyrockett2

Air-Valve Autobot!
Does anyone here own one of these or have any experience with one. I know every account of every ps-770 owner I've ever seen swear by them.
Also for those in the know.... Whats the deal with the different head systems on these two.
Near as I can tell it kind of looks like the 270 uses something like a micron style head but with an outer nut instead of the knurling and the 267 is using something resembling the hi-lines.

I know a lot of these have compatible parts interchange with Iwata but does anyone know the specifics for these two.

I'd be especially Interested if @DaveG has any observations even from just looking at the photos.

I do not know much about hese, although I am testing a PS770 head system/needle/nozzle.

looking at the picts you mention, it looks to me that while looking a bit different, the head systems on the two you mention are more like an Iwata HP, and say an Eclipse that has a hex nut shape to the mounting shoulder. Only the PS770 uses a Micron style head.

Ok, yeah I see, I'm looking at the diagrams on spray gunner, but they have no diagram for the 267
from other pics it looks like maybe the head on it is not removeable.

I think I might be the guinea pig on this 270 the one with the HP style head

Thanks for your input @DaveG ! Best I can gather elsewhere, a lot , If not all of the Iwata stuff interchanges on the 270 as well. Just have to figure out from which models.

Still every time I manage to find a report from an owner of any of these I haven't seen a single negative comment.
I'm kind of thinking I'll like that angled air valve body and that it comes with what looks like a badger style hose system.... those tiny little hoses are beautiful!

hehehe, I looked at that very thing out of curiosity. The complete head (sold in pieces) with nozzle and needle would run right around $85 - which would make it the least expensive Micron grade conversion.

Ok after some more research. This is what I've found ,the 270 has a removable head and will actually accept a micron head or 770 head but the the head that comes on it is more like the hp plus, in that it has the female threaded air cap.
The 267 has the fixed head

spray gunner has the whole 770 head for 65 including nozzle and the needle for 20. If you use the crown cap (assuming you even use that piece at all) from the point zero your total could be like 110 including the cost of the point zero!

If i do snag the ps-270 would you be interested in taking it for a little while, to test it as is and maybe with some of your other heads?
I'll have my backup brush in the meantime so I'd be interested in having you compare it to some of your other brushes and try it with a micron or 770 head/needle combo.
I can only compare it to the badger and I'm not that experienced, but I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in what you had to say about it.

Interesting thread! Am I right in thinking these are the Mr Hobby brushes that you're talking about Robby?

Hard to find a lot of fact on these. Lots of speculation they're made by the same manufacturers as Iwata but who knows.
In any case every actual owner I've found when talking about a ps-270 has compared it directly to their hp-ch.
Every ps-770 comparison I've found where they tested against their actual micron has said they could tell no difference.
But theres not a lot of those out there.

I'm thinking I'm going to pick up a ps-270 and I've got a point zero 360xs on the way as my backup. Both are capable of accepting the micron or 770 heads and needles should I ever decide to upgrade one a bit.
I actually trust daves assessment so I think if he says the 770 parts are great and probably worth it then I might pick up one of their heads down the road.
I like the angled air valve thing (I think) and i personally prefer a closed handle I've found the cutouts distracting and this thing is a .2
and It's like $90 on amazon.
I could get an eclipse for $120 but meh not with a .2 or a closed handle.
I have seen some incredibly close Pics of these and the finish seems flawless ( now i know why there are no closeups of Kromes)
I guess we will see.
The only other psudo-fact I found is that they do actually outsell Iwata in japan right now. Which I haven't really seen verified enough but sounds promising.
Anyhow I guess I'll be the test dummy for the 270 and we will see where it goes.

Definitely sounds like it’s worth a shot! I’m in the process of saving (slowly lol) for a CM-C+. But I’d be very interested to see yours and Dave’s thoughts on the Mr Hobby brush.

i'm not so sure that includes the nozzle... EDIT: I take that back, I think you are correct. I had just glanced at the parts listings without really looking.

Well, I'm just getting the 270. But yeah If the ps 770 is even really close to cm-c+. at only $210 It would be a steal. I did find many people saying the ps770 was definitely better than their hi-line series brushes.
Again though, It's all subjective and those were random people ,I have never seen their work or have any clue whether they know what they are talking about.
All i'll be able to tell you about the 270 is how it stacks up against the krome for me.

I don't have a PS770, so can really not give a full assessment of my thoughts on the brush as a whole. I have really just started playing with some of the parts that I purchased to test, most notably the nozzle and needle combination. With an initial round of testing under my belt, I can say that I personally would have no issue putting down the $210 for the GSI Creos Ps770 if I was looking for "C" cup brush with a .18 nozzle set up. No hesitation at all. Don't read this as a full endorsement for the quality of the entire brush, or even the brand - as I stated up front, I do not have one of the brushes (yet) - just that based on the parts I have seen, and used - I have confidence I would not be disappointed with the asking price on the PS770. I can not comment on any of the other brushes in the line, as I have no experience with them at this time.

Well that much is at least encouraging. Thank you for that info Dave. I'd still like to know if you'd be interested in testing my 270. I feel like whatever your thoughts on it are would be more useful to others than mine.
I of course would gain your opinion on the 270 with a 770 head in it.
