I don't like writing tutorials but if you need help with photoshop or illustrator and if it is in my power I will do my best. Here are few examples from the past, probably more then 10 years old stuff. If you think I have enough knowledge to help you let me know in this thread.

I can use the old photo shop but the new CS I stumble through to get close to the image in my mind. I have better luck using AutoCad products then adobe LOL. But it is very nice of you to offer help to those who may need it .

I would say yes. Unfortunately for the most part these days I use inkscape and GIMP.
PS and Illustrator I do have, they just reside on a slow desktop I dont use a lot.
Something I would love to see though is a basic tutorial on combining images and one on ...ummm IDK what you call it but transposing a design onto a picture of something, like a car or motorcycle.
Even if I use a different program converting the process would kind of be up to me.
In any case I think if more people knew how to combine an image from pieces and maybe even play with lighting a bit I think we might see more original compositions. A lot of us cant draw very well LOL.

what is transposing?

Same as @Fatslenderman did here on these first images to see how his design would look on the bike.

This is done with what is called in photoshop world: mockup. Usually designer doesn't make mock ups, unless it sell them or he have customer which would like to see how end product can look on his car for example. What designers are doing is they are googling for motorcycle example: free motorcycle photoshop mockup, or free motorcycle helmet mockup and so on.

or if they find really good one, they just but it, cause it is so cheap. Like 3 dollars:

Off course it can be made, but this is not done in half an hour and you need to use mask and displacement maps which I doubt gimp has them? -.- Or at leas paths? So you can select stuff which needs to be covered with your art and option for making those smart objects.

You basically need to map all the stuff where graphic need to go and then convert them to smart objects and make displacement maps which are making illusion, that your graphic is curved or by using warping.

here is an example how it is done:
It is the same principle for the bike, helmet and so on. But if you decide to do your own mock up I will "guide'' you as we go.
edit: I put the wrong link to youtube....

Im not sure what all gimp has as far as that goes. I know anything it doesnt have I can get as an extension. Thats the beauty of open source software with a large community:)
I will definitely ask you if I need some help on one.

Still a basic tutorial on combining images into something useful as a reference would be cool.

Really anything you think would be useful and pretty basic. Noone expects you to teach all about photoshop but maybe you could do an SBS the next t-shirt design you chop together. It could get a lot of people started I think.

I will think out something. I sad I don't like making tutorials and you wanna tutorial .I told you in other thread you are sadist lol

I was thinking before about making a thread how to snatch from web textures or stencils and make them and not pay for them, but I was afraid someone will go bananas on this forum -.- It can be done from free textures as well. It's the same process actually...

That Ive done :lipssealed:. But I just vectorize and then change over to G code and cut them on my CNC router.
Probably not the best thing to encourage though. Time and material vs just buying its kind of a tossup usually anyhow.

As long as you are not stealing someone’s ‘textures’ or intellectual property then I don’t see there being a problem. @Mr.Micron, is there a potential problem brewing with this idea ?

As far as helping others with Photoshop that’s awesome.
I think what would be of most benefit would a quick idea on how to combine separate images into one picture, to make an original.

I remember @haasje dutchairbrush did one a few years ago, I might have to do some digging

I saw one too, I dont know if its the one youre talking about but if it is, it was more like just one picture that showed where he got each piece from. It didnt actually show you anything on how. If its the same one, IDK
