New compressor

Jimmyfingerz

Mac-Valve Maestro!
I have treated myself to a new compressor, I decided on a bambi bb15 due to it being £11 more than the bb8.
Gets delivered next week, the wife will be happier with the less noise I think but not so happy with me spending more miney than her so thats me done for the forceable future lol
I watched and read plenty of reviews and it seems to be a good compressor, has anyone any advice. Does it come with an oil trap or just a moisture trap?
I’ll see if we have a spare auto tank drain valve knocking about in work but if not i’ll drain it once a week anyway.

I bought the Bambi BB24V a couple of weeks ago or so and am defiantly happy with it. I went with the larger tank as there wasn’t much price difference between it and the BB15. It is quiet and very well built with quality parts, it came full of oil and a big bottle of extra oil to top it up when needed.

How are you getting on with it?
I choose the 15 because of the footprint, my space isn’t the biggest and I think the 24 tank eas wider wasn’t it?

Do they come with anything for catching oil passing through like a seperator or will I need to look at that as an add on.
The good thing is we have loads of air stuff in work mainly made by festo so I can probably rustle one up somewhere.

Last question do you ise iwata brushes and if so what connextions will I need to get.........,,.,,actually last question is lol
Who delievered it and were they flexible on delivery?

I bought mine from airsupplies.com I think they are called and tried to change for a sat delivery but he said it comes direct from bambi, i’m working all week so hopefully won’t miss it.

Yea it’s great, no problems at all. The size wasn’t really much bigger than the 15, only 3 cm’s Extra width I think. It has a moisture/particulate filter fitted, I’m assuming that would stop any oil coming through? Although I don’t think any would. I’ve had no problems with moisture or oil at all, I don’t even use a pistol grip moisture filter on the airbrush as I don’t need it with this compressor.

I use Iwata air brushes, the only thing I had to buy was the adaptor to screw into the moisture filter on the compressor to attach my air hose to, I think it was a 1/4 bps male to male adaptor as my compressor didn’t come with it fitted. Although I got mine from Graphic Air so yours may have that fitted already. You would have to check with the company you bought it from.

Ok bud thanks, probably should have gone for the 24 but i’m happy with 15ltrs.
I’d doubt at my level I’d get through 15ltrs of air within a week lol

Where did you get it from? I'm almost in the market for a new quiet compressor for the basement. My air eraser compressor is way too loud to bring in from the garage...

I actually found it on local Lowes website, plus I had a $25 gift card that son gave me plus it was on sale but even at $100 its worth it. It is only 56 db when running, from empty it fills tank in 50 seconds and on a 90 to 120 top off it takes a mere 15 seconds. my wife never hears when I'm painting!! I had looked at the Silent-air but a bit high for me but now I can paint in middle of the night and no one knows but me. lol

So my new compressor turned up today and it won’t build pressure.
It is blowing air out under the pressure switch, so a little bit of an inspection I spotted the 1/8 connector was screwed in at this angle...........
I think I could strip it and screw it in properly but i’m fearful the threads would be damaged so looks like i’m going to have to wait to try it if Bambi give me permission to strip and repair myself.
Not good at all.....

How are you liking it? Great compressors aren’t they.

I’ve only had a little play so far but it is much better than the little Iwata I was using.Just a lot quieter with it having a tank, only thing i’d Say is the 2 bar between it going off and on could do with being a little bigger but I suppose they do that to keep the run times of the motor shorter, maybe to increase life expectancy of moving parts i’d Imagine.
I’m setting up painting for this weekend so will give it a good run, I’m thinking the wife will be happier with less noise!

I had a small iwata also, I was fed up with it running all of the time, having a tank makes all the difference. The low noise level of the Bambi is pretty impressive.

Oh the joy of Airbrush Compressors .... I wish BAMBI would ship to the US - I would buy one no problem. What annoys me about the Silenaire brand is they are way too expensive for small gallon compressors. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
Anyway just to add this - I bought one of these from Amazon
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0771LLHPC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
here's what they say - " Providing 5.29 CFM at 40 PSI & 3.24 at 90 PSI and an amazing 37 DB at 3 FT away!" - I mean that's ridiculous! If it's true it's winner by a long shot ... At less than $300 for a 5 Gallon tank!!!
I spoke with a seller of the brand and they said they were quiet. They are advertising it as quiet as 37DB which is insane for an oilers compressor of any make?!??! - I'm expecting it next week so I will test it out and add my review after some use.
I've bought and used a number of these California Air Tools brand compressor - total junk and extremely loud. Eagle compressor - same. Roller - quieter and very strong - but not quiet enough for me. All way louder than they claim which is false advertising.
But the love/hate relationship with air compressors is an ongoing battle - I want an oil one (I have a trillion-air from Badger which needs fixing) ... Can't spend over $1K on a silentaire compressor as it's such a scam. I'd love a Bambi - but they need to sell in the US.
Next option is to build one.
I'll see if this EMAX compressor lives up to it's claim! heck even at 45/50Db I'm in!

I’m happy with the Bambi, it’s really quiet and I get zero moisture build in my second moisture trap. With the Iwata power jet line i’d have to empty the moisture trap at least once during a session,I’m yet to do it at al with the Bambi. Only thing i’d say is in hindsight I should have got the 24ltr tank.
