Hiiiii
Its been a while since i’ve been the annoying newbie so i’ve decided to be the annoying semi newbie.
I am at the point of creating my skin tone for my latest project......
I got close but the muting killed me.
I started with half a small shot cup of white and added a few drops of burnt umber which provided me with a nice base. Then i added some sepia to darken a little and to be honest it got me pretty close which i probably could have used but i’d sooner be as close to the reference as poss.
Now to me it looks like it had a bit of a greyish tint to it so i watched a tut online and mixed a cool grey.
I added the tiniest amount and the skin tone was ruined so i’m stumped on how to mute this colour down.
If you look at the image its the lightest part at the bottom left of the image, just above the blood on the chest to the left hand side.
When isolated its a lot darker and greyer than it looks.
Any tips would be hugely appreciated and actually would help me no end with properly muting colours.
I’m using illustration paints still which i’m getting on with really really well.
Thanks in advance people
