Drop shadow question.

I have this another go today as I had a little time to paint.
I think it’s an improvement on the last attempt, I’ve tried to take onboard the advice here, just need to practice it some more. Next go I’ll be trying the staggered stencil method next time.
Thanks for the help Guys and Girls.

Big step forward!
Take the picture of both, so we could compare not scrolling the page;)

Much better! Both, to compare and the result!

But I see one thing:) Too perfect sheets! I added in mine some bends and dents, rust and cracs;) More natural then they look.
Good call. The rust is coming in the next part. I got some new candies for Christmas, so I’m going to try mixing up a good rust colour to add.

Haha, the Candles would be some dark secret that only mystics know about lol. I think I’ll stick to Candies.

Yeah, candies are better:) I've even started to think you were going to burn the surface:D

Actually that could work lol. But I think it would just get spot left there rather than any cool bluing.

would the rivets shadow not be the same as the drop shadow on the ripped material ??

Good effect I like it
James
Yes Sir. The light source is straight down. With hammered revers like this, the outer shadow is done in reverse, but the shadow on the dome is the same as the tear. With a little artistic licence.

I’ve carried on playing around with this piece. Mixed up a rust colour using Custom Series Candies. It’s the first chance I’ve had to play with them and they’re very nice to use. The colour is mostly Candy Orange with a little Candy Gold and one drop of Candy Dark Apple Red. This was done with my Eclipse CS.

Ok I just had an image of Simon melting down some christmas chocolates and shooting them thru his airbrush! Although Idk you might get some good rust effects from that? :p
