Mac-Valve Maestro!
Hello all, I’ve just begun airbrushing this year. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and beautiful artwork. I’ve just attended Dru Blair’s female portrait workshop and now am completely hooked! I’ve got an Iwata cm sb with the Blair trigger and softspring upgrade.

Welcome home Rebecca now just where on this big old planet do you live?
Yes we want to know more about you that way when you are looking for something we can help you better.

Hello Mr. Micron, I’m not good with these things, so I neglected the full introduction. I live in the USA in South Alabama. Been doing traditional art for about 5 years as a hobby, a few graphite commissions here and there. Don’t know much about paints and color. Did get a crash course on color therory at the Blair School.

Welcome from the U.K. Rebecca, looks like you’ve been set off on the right foot by going attending the class. And I’m sure your art background will help a lot too. Nice to have you aboard.

Thank you for the warm welcome SiRoxx. I need lots of practice for sure, but yes, I did gain quite a bit of good knowledge at the workshop. I need lots more tutorials and classes and mostly PRACTICE. Have a wonderful day!

Welcome! I've heard great things about that course on here, how did you like it? I am new to airbrushing as well, and would love to attend a course like that. They say you need to have airbrush fundamentals down before attending, how was it for you?

Hello Justin, the course was difficult but such a great learning experience. The Blair School offers a one day Foundations workshop the day prior to the four day portrait workshop. This is for the completely newby, so I took that. If you’ve been practicing basic control skills and know those you won’t need the foundations class. Intro to color theory is taught in the portrait class. (Female portrait) The advanced portrait class does not teach color theory and is not suitable for newbie like me, but would be fine for someone comfortable with the basic skills. This is what we did . Mine had lots of blobs that I’ve corrected, but turned out better than I expected.

Thanks for the rundown on that! I'd love to take his beginners class, after watching the video clips it seems like it would be money well spent! I can see the mistakes in this piece, but if you are a beginner, it's really incredible that you could pull this off! Really speaks to your own inclination with the tool as well as his teaching methods. Really gives me hope that I am not a lost cause! Cheers!

I definitely recommend it. I’m already planning to go back as soon as I can save up some more cash. Room and meals are included, so it’s eat, sleep and paint all day long. Money well spent. You’re never a lost cause unless you never try, right? It’s paint and paper, some just lays better than others’

A belated welcome from Australia,
You are lucky to be able to have easy access to Dru's workshops and your journey will definitely be fast-tracked.
You certainly look as though you learnt while you were there, that's always a good thing :D

Thank you for the warm welcome JackEb. I certainly am fortunate to have been able to attend Dru’s workshop. I highly recommend it. He will be doing one more in Australia later this year I believe.

Yes he is here in Nov, but at the other side of the country, but we also have @musicmacd who is a student of Dru’s who has recently been given Dru’s blessing to teach his methods and 2019 will be the last overseas trip that Dru will be doing for a few years

Yes, that is what he told up, he’s wrapping up the touring for a while. I have seen @musicmacd’s FB page and work. It’s super!!
