Iwata Neo trouble spraying

I’m new to airbrushing. Have been using my neo for about 6 months now. Lately when spraying createx pearl colors the colors aren’t coming out consistently. I’m using a reducer and still have issues. I ordered .5 needle and a .5 tip and changed out the .35 on the gun and it it still doing it. I cleaned the gun inside and out. Maybe I haven’t cleaned it good enough. Any suggestions? Water instead of reducer? Thanks

I would use the thinner instead of water might be a place to start with.

Thanks Henry

As Dave says, make sure you've changed all 3 parts.

You say you are using createx pearl, but which series ? airbrush colours, wicked , wicked detail ??

if its airbrush colors then you'll need a PSI of 50 through a .5 (its designed for airbrushing textiles)

if its wicked / wicked detail then your psi needs to be around 27 - 33+
according to the TDS for wicked/wicked detail
Mix color 3:1 4030 Balancing Clear

Thin 5-10% per volume 4011 / 4012

0.5mm, 27-33+ psi

I'm not a big fan of 4030 so transparent base (4040) may be a good substitute
use 4011/4012, water is great for practising but the paint doesn't dry very quickly, so the reducer is recommended.

mix in a small cup and let is sit for 10 minutes, stir then add to airbrush.

Yeah I didn’t change the cap. I’m going to order it. I’m using airbrush colors and I’m keeping psi around 50. I’ll let it soak in simple green overnight and give it a good cleaning to make sure I don’t have any dry paint inside. I appreciate the videos. The second one was very helpful even though the guy was a little quirky lol. I’ll also introduce myself in the forum. I got into airbrushing because I make my own wooden baits from scratch and airbrushing is my favorite part of it.

I have wicked pearl red, it's thick as a pudding. I was suspecting that color went bad so I ordered another wicked pear red. It was the same situation. So I would predict, it also depends what kinda pear color are you using. In my experience some are thicker then others.

I can get a custard slice through mine.
