Mac-Valve Maestro!
Hi guys what an amazing site, thanks for letting me join, I'm in the UK.

Back in the 90s my cousin was a renowned airbrush artist, I was always amazed and wanted to try myself but I simply couldn't afford at the time.

Some 20 odd years later, I have a wife and kids and we're all into RC

I've been spraying bodies of my RC trucks with rattle cans and then I remembered the passion I felt for airbrushing and immediately decided now was the time.

The issue I have, is I've have no idea what is decent, what's awful, what's over priced, what's a bargain, what's too powerful or underpowered for RC body painting

Now I've got the brush selected

But I need a compressor

I have a budget at around £100

Is this model below any good?

Can I do better for he price? Should I consider a different model?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GYZIYMG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8SLiDb3KDR97N

Many thanks, I'm sure I'll have more questions from. Here out

Much appreciated thank you

If you let us know where in the world you live, I'll consider this an Introduction :)

The compressor you linked will certainly do the job but be warned... it will be LOUD !

What airbrush and paint have you decided on ?

I'm in the UK buddy :)

Anything for the price as good but not as loud?

I'll be going for an iwata and paint will be my next question lol :)

Here is a video that will help you get a better idea of what you can get for the money...

How about a nice intro as well... ? :)

the quieter the compressor the more $$ you'll need :)
Which Iwata ? sorry it sounds like 1001 questions but the more we know the better we can guide you. There's no point recommending paint X if it wont flow through your airbrush :) EG, metalics will require a .5 needle minimum

@markjthomson, I've let him off an intro, he's got most of the intro info in the first post and he's advised where he's living so I'll go and update his profile :)

I've not purchased the brush but was unaware re metallic needing a. 05

Generally ill want to use candy colours, metalics, irridecant or chameleon colours, the more flamboyant the better :)

I've posted an intro, sorry guys, didn't mean any harm :)
No harm, we're just overjoyed to see a new member :)

See ! this is why we ask so many questions....... how annoyed would you have been if you'd bought a brush and couldnt use the paints you wanted to.

@SiRoxx is in the UK and he can probably point you in the direction of good retailers, airbrushes that are available readily (in case you need spare parts)

I was thinking today a little. I think I made the same when I joined to this forum, until Mr.Micron got me with that introduction thingy :D

Is it possible that white knight or whoever is responsible for the forum, sets up forum, that new member can only post his first post in to introduction thread. Maybe he would get notice like this: you can post your first post in to introduction forum and let us know something about your self. After that you are welcomed to post in other forums as well.

Getting back to your original question re compressors, check this one out, a few more $ but a great price for something you don't need earplugs with.

Intro's aren't mandatory, Its just a polite thing to do and gives us a bit of an insight into each person.... I knew you were going to be trouble as soon as you did your into lol

I need to find that thread...

That cevik jackie linked is one of the better small compressors i found when looking around in the UK but quite a few members have also gotten this one,
https://www.amazon.co.uk/241183-Sil...X2QGYXHTGWB&psc=1&refRID=39Y125WPTX2QGYXHTGWB

Everyone ive seen with one here has been very pleased, numbers are right, its quiet (very quiet) and beats the crap out of most "airbrush compressors".
It was sold out on amazon UK for months. Right at the top of your budget but it will do whatever youre asking as far as airbrushing goes.

That's the very other I was looking at but the draper just seemed a better spec numbers wise?

Welcome fellow UK resident LOL. I can indeed point you int the right direction for retailers. I am slammed at work right now, but give me a couple hours and I’ll be back.
To get you started though www.air-craft.net for brushes (fantastic prices and really first rate customer service). www.smdesigns.co.uk are the main European distributor for Createx Paints as well as www.airbrushes.com who are the main Iwata importer for the U.K. I recommend them for paint and spares, but their prices for brushes are deliberately high so that they do not compete with their customers who are the retailers.
I will read the thread in full and get back to you shortly.
Welcome.

Fantastic info thank you so much buddy

Ok, I’m back from work and caught up.
Regarding the compressors, the Draper is a more powerful unit, but loud as hell. Arguably it could be considered overkill for just an airbrush. The other choices will run a brush very nicely and not shake the foundations of your house when it kicks in LOL (definitely an exaggeration, but you get my drift).
As far as brushes go, Iwata is obviously a great choice. The Eclipse range can be swapped from
.35mm needle / nozzle to a .5 setup after buying some extra parts, but with some practice the .5 is probably capable of doing 90% of anything the smaller setup can do, but will also run the metallics and pearl colours nicely. Definitely check out www.air-craft.net for buying brushes, as I mentioned earlier, their prices are great and they are a completely trustworthy retailer.
In terms of paint. Createx Autoair and Wicked lines have a great reputation amount the RC community. They both have a wide range of couloirs for graphics, Autoair has a larger choice of Pearls, Metallics and Candy Colors out of the two. Createx is a full paint system with everything from primer to Custom paints. SM Designs or Airbrushes.com would be the places to go for those. The Createx website has a fantastic amount of tech information, colour charts and application guides that are free to download too.
I hope some of this is useful Buddy, don’t be afraid to ask questions, they can save a lot of time and money!

Thank you so much

As someone starting out, not even knowing if they'll succeed or not, would you suggest I stay away from the Chinese clones? Or do they offer much in the way of value vs longevity?

A lot of the things I have are Chinese and while some consider them inferior, generally I don't.

The rest of the information is gold thank you, I'll get that orizle compressor ordered now thanks.

That website, for the paint has so much incredible information on it, again, thank you
