Day one in the airbrush house

Mac-Valve Maestro!
Well that was a baptism of utter fire.

Had to go out for a regulator, but that's all sorted.

Had a few blockages but I managed to clear them.

But my god when it goes right it's spectacular.

Unfortunately I have a lot of "runny paint marks" down the rc body, I assume this is because the paint is too thin?

My main issues been to get the pain to flow I've had to thin it and when I do it "slides" on the rc body when it drys (or as it's drying even)

Does this mean I mean thicker paint? And to use less thinners? How can I avoid getting a blockage if it needs to be thicker?

As always you've been incredibly helpful thank you

I was running at around 25psi but was suffering blockages, I guess I could run lower but then I'd have to thin more?

what airbrush do you use? 25 psi to paint a rc body seems to me a lot. Meaning that your paint will ''hit'' your surface with a lot of force causing it to splatter. Plus I'll tell ya again no heavy coats. Just light but more coats. Between them just shoot only air, air movement dries them faster. So what airbrush r u using and what reduction? Wicked colors are really really good you know..

Yes you could but it depends on the paint thickness whether it will flow right.. You will get it right but you will have to experiment a bit to get it right for you, your paint your air pressure and your airbrush. There could be someone with exactly the same setup and have it perfectly working. No two are the same. One of our founder members Seamonkey used to practice on glass. You have to get everything just right or it spiders this is something that might be of some help. If you have an old pic frame with glass then have a go on that so you can dial your air, paint and brush in.

Just out of interest what mix are you using with the wicked and reducer? We know your at 25psi currently so we may be able to get you dialled in a bit closer one we know your paint /reducer mix.

And what size needle ... I have jus woken up on a Saturday and it’s NOT RAINING ! So I’ll happily grab my glass picture frame and try and give you examples of what is causing you grief
But first ..... COFFEE ...

Thanks I'm using a. 5 needle with a 60/40 paint /thinner mix

Mmmm coffee

It did also come with a. 3 needle too if that helps

First I'd just like to state that there are peeps here who are far more qualified on the use of wicked paint.
However 60/40 isn't really that thin a paint mix it's only a bit over 1 to 1. I was expecting you to say about I was expecting a higher reducer percentage so through a .5 it should be fine at 25 psi but you could try dropping the air a few psi. With the problem you had I'm thinking you may have just sprayed it on too thick (a 0.5 can spray like a hose pipe) and on hard surfaces you have to work in light layers or the paint will run or skate/ spider.
Watch this vid from one of our members 'Josh'. I know he used a lot thinner paint that what your using but I believe it was wicked paint.

Hmm coffee that sounds like a plan. Please watch the vid it's only 10 mins long. Have a go and let us know how you get on.
