Harder & Steenbeck

Just found a cracked nozzle in my spares tray, and no it wasn't caused through paint or bad workmanship. Just me being stupid and over zealous with the cleaning. It was my first real brush and wanting to be diligent on the cleaning I used a generic nozzle cleaner to clean out the inside. What a mistake to make. I didn't realise my mistake until many hours later when in frustration of not getting anything out of the brush I eventually checked the nozzle under a magnifying glass and to my horror found the reason. So it cost me more money and a wait for a new nozzle to arrive.View attachment 60939

When I first got my Evolution, I too was over zealous with cleaning and 2 weeks later I notice that the coating in the cup was already failing... First I though it was lousy quality by H&S... then I realize I was the one scraping the coating away because I was using a flat brush to clean the cup vigorously. (Luckily it is not something I need to replace immediately and it does not affect the functionality of the airbrush)

The important thing is that we do not repeat the same mistakes. If we damage our airbrushes in the future, it should be by a new mistake :p

I have 5 of them that looked like that , At first I blamed myself for maybe pushing the needle in to hard but on the last one I carefully placed the needle in while watching it through a microscope and I watch it crack just before the needle was seated . When I ordered the last one I order both the nozzle and the needle thinking maybe it was a needle issue. That is when I opted for the .2 set up and several years later the .2 nozzle is still in perfect shape.Being I can not say the Infinity was my first airbrush but more like my 6th or 7th one and other then a mishap on my micron when I first got it I had never cracked a nozzle I figured that at the very tip of the .15 nozzle was machined too thin was the reason .But what works for some does not always work for others LOL

Hey mate, I just read your reply and thought why don't I have a look at my 0.15 nozzle/combo that I have in my Infinity. I have been experiencing a few issues lately with the brush. I needed to strip it down and clean the nozzle every couple of minutes. I put it down to not thinning the paint enough. Then getting the dreaded spiders. Under the magnifier I can see a split developing right at the end of the tip. I recently purchased a 0.2mm/needle V2 combo for my Evolution. It works perfectly and well good enough for all the detail work that I like to do. So I have just ordered another setup for the Infinity. Happy days. Thanks for the post'

Being I knew how the .15 set up fine lines looked when working right and seeing the .2 By the naked eye you can not see any difference.
