I had put a .2 needle in my hp-c + when i first got it and it wouldnt spray very well... after some thought i came up with the idea to polish the tip of the needle...so i used a piece of polishing compound (see attached pic) I had cut a tiny notch with my knife and polished (carefully) as you can see in the pic it was black from the metal..now its sprays awesome with hardly any tip dry..View attachment 35203

Did you knock the top off of it first?, I hope not, that might not be good for your neck this early,;);):):)

I used to polish my needles but stopped doing it after I had several needles started to fail after a while : polish takes off metal and you risk you take in doing so is ending up with a needle that wont close off the nozzle anymore , even if you are in luck and it sprays better at first the risk is still there as the pigments in the paint will cause wear on the needle and nozzle and it is only a matter of time till the needle will fail to close the nozzle .
This is why I bought the marissa k33 needle that is made from a different metal and polished to match the nozzle

Hey Ronald,
Just how often were you polishing your needles so hard and what were they made of ? I normally only polish mine to get it smooth once a year, then just give them a light touch-up if it really needed it. Sounds like you were over doing it on the " lets make it smooth and shiny like chrome" way to often. By the way where did you find the Marissa K33 needles, what are they make of, and what airbrush are they originally for ? Do they come in different shaft stock diameters ? Oh and how is it polished to match the nozzle, do they come as a matched needle/nozzle set. or are you polishing them to match ?

I know I ask a lot of questions, but that's how we learn, grow and make our airbrushes and work better.

Thank you for the info in advance.

I never polish my needles the K33 needles have a coating that makes em real hard and smooth downside is those needles break if you drop them I switched to a different needle but I dont know if those needles are still on the market maybe @Dave G. knows more about the "rocket needle" and if those needles are still being sold

Nah, I got no info on the Rocket needles. Not sure what happened with Robby, but have not heard from him at all.
