New toy - Flake King 500

OK, well I had a first go with it, just a plain panel for now (although I plan to use it as a base for something else). Initial impressions were pretty good, it's a first attempt so plenty of scope for improvement but actually pretty easy to use. Probably even better if you use their binder. I just used rattlecan clear.

The glitter has arrived - 30 x 15g jars ! and Coast airbrush even called it glitter on the customs declaration.

Now all I need is some time to hook up the Glitter Flicker (flake king 500) . . oh yeah, I'm on two weeks leave starting Wednesday next week . . .

Woohoo! Looks like there’s plenty to keep you going!

PS - They totally should have called this the Glitter Flicker [emoji1787][emoji1787]. Best product name ever LOL.

I agree that "Glitter Flicker" is a great product name. Beats "Flake Flacker" any day.

@JackEb Looking forward to seeing your experiments! :) Looks like you have plenty of supplies

Just hope you have a paint booth or shop-vac running when you use that. Otherwise, you'll be Tinkerbell leaving "pixie-dust" everywhere.lol My wife did some glitter projects and we were months cleaning it up.
I’ll be starting at the lowest pressure possible in a cardboard booth, in the shed.... I may wear a shower cap, my hair is long... and grey... I could start a new trend ! Load up on hairspray and see where the glitter lands lol

I know I've only used mine the once so far but honestly there was so little mess it was almost disappointing. At 10psi the flake came out in a pretty controllable way and pretty much all of it stuck to the clear as it should. The tray I used to put the steel plate on caught what little excess there was. I used mine in the kitchen/diner of the house, no mess, no fuss

Pictures or it did not happen....lol
haha That would be a classic pic.

Yes "Glitter" gets everywhere, its bad enough when its just sprinkled on paper with glue. Being fired out of an air powered cannon, well that's another adventure! I hope the booth works :) I'm sure JackEB will share the results.

Looking forward to seeing what you create.

I've done it! Got my Christmas pressie from the wife ordered. I umm'd and arr'd for a while then thought sod it. Flake King 550 on its way. Not worried about it being here for Christmas, but it should appear in the gap between Crimbo and New Year.

I'm with you all now you trend setters!

Trend setters? o_ODon’t you mean fellow enablers? lol
I’ve been trying to resist since it’s winter here and water based paints and coating products don’t ship well. I’ve got all sorts of other paints to use for now. Need to practice dots, lines, and dagger strokes now that my futility room is finally useable again. And... and... and...
Blast it, I’ll just adapt and use transparent sealer when the Flake King 500 and glitter assortment arrives :sus:

I know what you mean by enablers. As you know I wouldn't normally be buying airbrush stuff as I have quite enough, but after feeling a bit of glitter shame I had to do it. I did contemplate the FOM-1000 but I got the 550 in the end, I have a plan. Plus the 550 can be used with an airbrush if you get the airbrush adapter.

Have you had any snow your way Hellbird? I saw on the news that there's been 40" fall in NY but that's a way from you.

There’s snow and then there is S-N-O-W. From the Nor’Easter, we got a measly 3 inches local to where I am. Further east and south of here is where they got the 40”. It also buried parts of New England as well.
