Hello from the underworld...

CreekPikerLures

Double Actioner
Long time sprayer...neub to the forum...Thanks for letting me join. Anxious to learn any new tips n tricks as well as “get in the loop” with new equipment/mods. Seems this is the place that comes up most when searching equipment questions so ill dive in...

My “steed” is an Iwata Kustom CH... Like myself, its getting old ... Find it disappointing they do not make them anymore. Haven’t picked up another gun for 16yrs now. Still sprays like the day i got it. Anything than can be replaced has been and it really has stood the “test of time”...

I grew up on “auto air” magazine before the days of social media. Still have stacks of old issues i read from time to time. Don’t wanna b a dinosaur tho, so its time i see whats new on the streets these days. Started off doing T-shirts with a pasche then eclipse. Did alot of proto type model paint in college studying industrial design and had a short stint trying to run a buisness while airbrushing was “dying”... the t-shirt craze anyway. Pretty sad. I will always appreciate hand made items over computer/mass made ones. I stuck it out for a few yrs doing alot of “dance clothes”, murals and subject matter that kept my lights on. Needles to say i gave up for a bit. Always did shirts/my art for myself and moved onto canvas.
My favorite thing to paint is a nice fresh wall ... just somethin about the scale and being free to spray about with no restrictions.
Moving onto present day, ive been trying to make it in the “lure buisness” using the skills ive aquired over the yrs and a degree in Industrial Design/Fine arts from CCAD... (any ccad alum about? Lol) i feel like not many lure painters freehand so i try to do that as much as possible. “Tricks” will always be part of it but anyone can spray through some mesh and sell a bait. Id like to stand out and go as far away from the norm as possible without “cheating”... tricks and tools will always have their place, not knocking them, i guess i just appreciate freehand the most and really admire anyone doing canvas/illustration/realism type work. Follow alot of street writers aswell and hope to soak up anything i can here.
Its nice to see a resurgence of “hand skills” making a comeback these days. People appreciating art and talent is what its all about. Nice to meet everyone and as always SprayNSlay ... Russell @CreekPikerLures

Welcome home Russell. We have a few lure painters on here.
Shields and masking are sometime needed to protect what has already been painted on the other side of them lures.. LOL
But yes free hand gives it a cooler vibe plus for the most part no two are exactly alike .

Haha Thank you for the warm welcome and nice to meet you! Been reading your replies to many others for the past few days. Not “locked into lures” although that is my avenue these days. Im easily distracted and most often keep a t-shirt or canvas up to jump on with “extra paint” ...just cant “squeeze” paint into a lure like u can fabric lol... gotta have a “fun” break every once in a while.

Welcome Russel. Glad to have you as part of our community. I’m sure your experience will be a real bonus. I’m jealous of the Kustom CH. I recently got a regular CH and it’s becoming my favourite all round brush.

Def. A great brush... in 16yrs ive honestly never put it down lol. Easy to break down/clean and parts are still fairly affordable. Had a “good” spray day today. Made me debate my interest in the “holy micron” ... trying to figure out the pic downsizing so i can share here. Appreciate the kind welcome from everyone

There’s a few apps I’ve found for sizing photos. I have one on my phone and iPad and another for laptop. They work pretty good.
As for the Micron, if you’ve only really used one brush for 16yrs I think you owe yourself a treat haha.
