Hello, so here i am and here is my deal, I like custom painted cars and my interest is to learn how to paint my car. I have painted stock dupont paints 25 years ago, but never got into the base coat clear coat systems, figure its similar to when we use to paint cars and then clear them with old school clear but there is was put on this coat, mix this and that, next coat and 23 coats later, your done, then let it sit under lights forever and then buff liberly with black magic polish and then you have a deep liberal laquer paint job, custom with your freshly restored acid dip Barracuda with a 426 hemi or the 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS in Candy Apple Red and Black racing stripes, would have loved to airbrush a cannon on that think, 396 big block and 4 on the floor. Also had a custom 454 in chevy short bed, shift kit 400 automatic on 1100, painted that black metallic. Then came the peterbuilt 1976 with 350 cummins turbo diesel with over size injector kit pushing out 400 horses, on a 10 speed road ranger and sqhd 383 tandem rears. best paint mix ever. Mixed up a garnet red metallic with a clear adding red pearl, sandblasted is all the way, the prepped and filled everything, primed sanded and primed, finally put on the sealer and shot it, had a lot of help, but 3 of us got it done and then shot it in a metal shed after wetting everything down to keep the dust in check and when we finished, it would litterally change colors in the light, reflecting back beams like a ruby prism. That was magice in those days, love and attention to detail. Now, I dont do that anymore, grew up, got respectable and went to college and raised my family. My husband Greg has gotten on here and spurred my interest a little, though i swore when I left my Grandfathers house behind for my life, I never would have to do this again, I find some solis it creating things, but my mind isnt thinking small arts and crafts and quilting, instead it goes to those beautiful cars that my family use to make at Central Auto & Truck in Wolforth Texas in the 80's; The family still cranks out some nice ones sometimes, my cousins are currently working on a Dodge neon sxt 2004 with a 400 hp turbo charge 4 cylinder. Be nice to put some good paint on that when its ready too. I though just want to paint my car and my smoker .
