Beginner from Indiana

Hi from Indiana, new here and fairly new to airbrushing as well. I recently bought a cheap masters kit just to start. Masters G22, G25 and siphon feed E91. Compressor it came with don't even have a name lol. Been reading everything I can get my hands on as well as watching video tutorials.

Using testors acrylics for now since they came with the kit, hoping to get good enough to move to house of kolor soon. Still trying to work on my dagger strokes as I'm still not producing good/smooth enough daggers.

I bought a few stencils online as well just to play around and try to learn to fade out the stencily look, but unfortunately the ultratechair multilayer reaper stencil I bought is just to complex for my current skill level. Looks like stencily crap everytime lol.

But that's basically it, just trying to learn everything I can from you guys. Hopefully one day I can airbrush on a,professional level.

Welcome from Australia John.
Time, patience and determination wil get you where you want to be.

Welcome from New Zealand... keep practicing... dots and daggers are your friend!!

Hi and Welcome from the U.K. Never stop practising but most of all have fun and post up some pics of your daggers and dots:thumbsup:

Welcome to the madhouse John,What type of things do you plan on painting? Models,cars,bikes,Ect.. It helps us help you when it comes to Paints, airbrushs. Ect..also do you have any art background?

Welcome aboard John from the uk. Don't give up on those stencils just yet. Paint very lightly so you get a real washed out looking version, that just gives you a map of where to paint. Then go in and give it some texture and detail to bring it to life - boom no stenciled look, and your own unique version. Once you'be got those dots daggers lines and fades down it will be no problem :)

Im wanting to get into automotive graphics mostly, motorcycles, cars as well as atvs and such. I really like everything I've seen done with house of kolor so I'm really leaning towards learning everything about urethanes.

More into dark "evil" style art, reapers, skulls, graveyards etc..
And no real art background as far as schooling or anything, however I've always loved to draw.

Welcome to the forum John! If you're good at drawing, you will do just fine. In between your dots, lines and dagger practice. You should also do up some skulls. They will keep getting better and better. But save your first one so you will see your progress, which will be quick BTW. Have fun with it and post up everything. We want to see. :)

Well than you will need a paint booth set up with full filtration system . Unless you live out in the boonies but you still want the cleanest area to use urethane paint.
HOK is not hard to learn as far as spraying and you might find this link very helpful http://www.coastairbrushtv.com/Mixing-the-House-of-Kolor-Urethanes_p_15.html

Love how friendly and helpful everyone is around here! Looks like I finally found a "home". Yea I'm going to eventually be looking into an old box truck or something along those lines, just interested in the box. Going to convert something like that into a paint booth.

Yup! It's a pay it forward kind of place, most of us have learnt what we know about airbrushing from the generous people who were here before, and try and do the same if we can. Welcome to the family.

hello from a fellow Hoosier. I'm south of you in Kokomo, I too would like to do murals and automotive work but, with work and home life I find it hard to practice the way I should so I get in when I fit in the time. Well, happy painting to you.
