we do offer help, I can’t think of a single instance were help has been refused unless an intro has been done.
We offer assistance.... and ask for an intro so we can get to know them.
Yes all the info could be put in a signature/profile, but how many do the basics of a location in their profile? . Most don’t even bother with that. I often add the locale once they’ve divulged it in the posts.
I didn't actually suggest that anyone has been refused help unless they post an introduction but if they post a thread asking for filling the thread up with dragons and requests for an intro doesn't solve their problem.
There plenty of requests asking them to introduce themselves but why not ask them to edit and and update their profiles instead, I'm a member on a couple of model forums and when I logged for the very first time on each I was automatically redirected to my profile page and asked to take the time update it, I know I'm some kind of freak but it just makes sense to me, especially since both profile editing and posting introductions are totally optional on any forum at all.
Despite being the freak that I am, I still do understand the purpose of asking for an introduction but again since its optional ganging up on an individual to get one is bad tactics, if they don't supply enough info simply ask for it just as Robbie does, it might be that some new members don't wish to divulge too much of their details and that is their God given right.
