Hello from the Mississippi Gulf Coast

What would be taking the finish off of the lower part of the color bowl, just learning so I have been using the cleaner make by Iwata also some glass cleaner mix that I found on the web. Eclipse hp-cs. I am only using acrylic paint at this time

Hi mate, welcome to the forum from the UK!

It's an awesome place, packed full of help and a nice bunch of peeps to.

Hope you enjoy airbrushing mate, it's great fun. I'm new to it too, but loving the journey so far!

See ya bud

If the glass cleaner has ammonia in it, then that could be the culprit. Ammonia can harm the chrome finish. But I also remember reading somewhere that the Iwata cleaner is quite tough on them too. But it’s also true that the airbrushes often have very thin plating inside the cup and often wear off. I think the bottom of my Eclipse CS lasted about 2 weeks lol. It doesn’t harm the airbrush at all. Some of the pros favourite brushes have chrome missing all over the place. It’s nothing to worry about.

just means its being well loved and not sitting in a drawer somewhere forgotten and unloved,
but yes the amonia in the windex can be harsh, especially if you leave it sitting in the cup to soak :)

Thanks for getting back to me, I had thought about the ammonia. Mean Green all propuse cleaner is the only thing I have found in my area without ammonia and it seems to clean my eclipse as good as the other stuff did.

whatever cleaner you use make sure you flush with clean water, any remnant of any sort of cleaner can mess with your paint
