Some help with pressure set up

Henry Ruiter

Double Actioner
Just to you guy an idea of my set up I have a 2hp compressor with a 24 L tank it has three gauges on one's the tank pressure second one I've set at 30 psi(this one lags behind a little bit) and the third one has a moister trap the gauge has narthing beween 0-30 psi it does have Bar on it though.I had set it 1.2 bar thinking it was 20 psi so after all this time actually spraying at 17-18 psi so question is how do get an acturate 20 psi.

Thanks Henry

buying something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Airbrush-C...essure+gauge&qid=1558043994&s=gateway&sr=8-12
?
you can use only pressure gauge maybe?
or this you can screw on your desk:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/BIlinli-AF...ressure+gauge&qid=1558044240&s=gateway&sr=8-9
if you add this you don't need to screw anything:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01FM23PKC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Am I on the right track? -.-
I've got a moister trap with a gauge and is adjustable too change the pressure this is the one I was talking that only went to 0-30 PSI with out any numbers inbeween all I want to do is spray my models at 20 PSI.

Thanks Henry

Here's a photo of the gauges so you see what I'm talking about.

Turn the middle regulator full on, hold the trigger if your connected Airbrush down to begin airflow, then use the right hand regulator to adjust to the pressure you want while the air is flowing from your airbrush. You’ll see the gauge jump up again when you relieves the trigger, but it should settle back to the selected pressure as soon as you pressure the airbrush trigger again.

the yellow marks are your PSI. It states it on the gauge. The larger dashes are tens, so set your needle to the large dash just before 30, that is 20. Does this help?

Why do you want ‘exactly’ 20 ? What works today at 20 will likely need adjustment tomorrow.
And Justin has you covered with the PSI markings on the guage

Because my models won't blow away in the wind.

The psi is subject to the paint flowing nicely, not because your object is light.
As I said, the psi will vary with the paint, even within brands some colours are thicker than others.
Make sure you are using the recommended reducer for your paint.
Start with 1:1 paint:reduced and a pressure of 25 and paint or reducer accordingly. If you models are blowing away at 25 then you’ll need to find a way to secure them

I mostly use Tamiya paint and there thinner and I thin the paint to almost to the top bottle witch something like 20/23% and I find any more than that the pigment separates out to much looks more like a wash. The airbrush I use is a Badger 105 with a .3mm needle/nossle.

and you blow this away with more then 20 psi? -.-
Yeah of course it can get a bit hairy some times . Well I think somewear beween 20-25 PSI is probably more that enough and I was making a joke what pressure should i be spraying at then?.I don't think would be 30-40 PSI because that would just cause problems for me.
