Createx 4030+4012 goes wrong

Double Actioner
Hi guys, just tried my first attempt painting with Candy2O, 30% 4030, 5% 4012 and no paint flow. At the begining I didnt realized whats the problem was so I google it and found people that say to mix the 4030 and 4012 first solved this problem, so I tried it and and watch what happening, this is whats blocked the flow for me.

Btw I tried to mix it over 3 minutes and it still has this little pieces.

After Ive seen it I tried Candy2O and 30% 4030 without reducer and its had a great flow but its dont looks shiny like I think it was supposed to ..

Can anyone help me here?

Used the Paasche Talon 0.66mm nozzle Candy2O Marine blue after white basecoat of Autoborne sealer

I see you set your thread to SOLVED. Maybe not a bad idea if you write how you did it, it can help other forum members if they are in the same situation.

I am going to guess here, that the 4012 is bad. I have seen in my own use that after a while, the 4012 can cause paint to coagulate or seed upon contact. I would try a new bottle of 4012 and see what happens. I now only buy 4012 in smaller 4oz bottles...

4030 can cause issues , If it is too hot or cold it can start to thicken up in a brand new un-opened bottle.
You can use the Createx Transparent base as a carrier for the candy or the 4040 bleed checker.
You always mix the carrier and reducer first then add the candy, even with urethane ,
Doing it other wise can cause seeding of the candy.
I use the 4020 automotive reducer mainly due to I have had issues with 4012 and so far have never had any issue with the 4020.
Most how ever have the reverse affect on they have issues with the 4020 and not the 4012.

I also notice when I use the transparent base with the candy I get a more even and smoother flow then when I use the 4030.

So far everyone is on target with the answers. Mix the 4030 and reducer first. It is called a slurry...lol
I start with the reducer, add the 4030, mix,,,Then last I add the candy. I just mixed up 3 colors of candy. I mixed enough slurry for all three then used that and mixed up my candies .
And to answer the question about it being shiny.....You need clear coat to make it shine. After clear, the candy will pop....
Cheers

Yes, just figure it out myself!
In my case the 2oz bottle was the bad one and the 4oz was good.
But it doesnt makes this pieces when in using it with wicked and autoborne, probably a chimical reaction with the 4030..

Well, I sprayed the clear yesterday.. a lot of orange peel ( I'll keep in mind to find a good place with light next time [emoji28])
The yellow is also candy2o (Tequila Yellow)
But the shine still hidding somewhere..

Btw, can someone recommend on a good masking tape?
Ive used some cheap masking tape I found in my house and you can see the results [emoji1787]

I was gonna say, sounded like the 4012 was bad. Ive noticed it doesnt like sunlight. Adding some water back can salvage it sometimes.
Most green painters tapes are great and anything 3m.
Candy2o darkens as it dries, may be why its not as brilliant as expected. Go a shade or 2 lighter than you intend it to end up.

Looking for something to train on, my little sis asked me to paint her matkot (paddle ball).. then I realized how fast I need this new masking tape. Just ordered Tamiya now.

also I've heard some people use vinyl tape for curves, any recommendations?

I’ve only used 3M blue fine line vinyl tape, and I like it but don’t have any other to compare it

I dont really have a preferred fineline tape, I think i almost always have used 3m. TBH i dont really always pay attention to what the shop has, i just grab it and go.
I can say what you want to do with it is lay down your curve, then put regular width tape over it without attempting to follow the curve. Then cut the regular tape right on top of the fineline and pull the excess.
