Still having problems

Im still having problems. My compressor died so I bought a cheap small one from ebay to maybe get me through this kit im currently working on. But no joy. With the new compressor kit im still having problems spraying even just vallejo surface primer. It leaves a very splattered coat like the primer is to thick.

I have drastically dismantled my airbrush (badger krome renegade) and cleaned it thoughout. Its spotless yet again still cant spray.

Please what am I doing wrong?

paint is to thick and air pressure is too low for the thickness of the paint.
You really need a tanked compressor so when you have it set to 35 PSI it stays there.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I took on board what you said and have since looked at my old compressor. Now it did make some strange noises and when It died. I have just tested it, after its intial startup to pressure and once you use it for a bit it would just wobble and not start back up. I have taken the compressor head off and the inside the head was very dirty, and the reed valve slightly bent. I straightened out the valve, cleaned it and put it all back together making sure that everything was flush and true. I just tested it and it starts back up now after use and has done 10 times.

Hopefully that could be ok for a bit. So if I crank up my pressure to 35psi (currently at 20) should I be able to spray Vallejo primer from the bottle bearing in mind I have a .21 nozzle at the moment on my brush.

No .21 is too fine a nozzle set up..35 would give much better results.
Even on small item I will use a mine spraygun vs an airbrush.
But it you crank up the pressure to 35 psi and reduce the primer you should see much better results.

Yup, what Mr.Micron said! Some things need bigger nozzles. a small nozzle is good for REALLY fine pigments and reduced paints... bad for REALLY big pigments (like primers).

Hi guys thanks for your wisdom. My badger brush came with two size nozzles one .30 and one .21, I had somehow mixed up the nozzle covers. But I put on the .30 nozzle and tried with my primer and still very eratic even at 35psi. So I went and bought a new bottle. Wow the difference the problem has now gone. All along my primer must have got to thick over time. Thanks again guys for your patience and expertise. [emoji16]

That thing is not a compressor, it's a fish tank pump. They are useless.

Very true, I just googled it

Air Volume: 10.5liters per minute
Max. Pressure: 28psi
It’s actual normal working pressure will likely be
15-20 (constant airflow while depressing the trigger) which won’t be high enough to give good atomisation with anything much above water consistency.
You need a better compressor. Trying to do what you want with it will give you much frustration and you’ll likely burn our the compressor because it will work to hard.
These kits exist because people buy them thinking “they’ll do for now and I’ll upgrade later.”
All you get is frustration and putting it in the corner of the shed to gather dust and find a different hobby

I agree with Andre and Jacky the best that thing can do is blow bubbles in water and it will run hot by doing just that and burn out
get yourself a real airbrush compressor and yes I know those compressors dont come cheap

Thanks guys, i have given up on that new garbage as it didnt work for me, and fixed my tanked compressor i thought was broken. Its been working fine as you can see from my current WIP

Excellent! The model looks good. Is it a gundam or could it be optimus prime, im not up to scratch with this kinda stuff. Looks good no matter what.

Its a Gundam. Im still rather new at all this this will be my 4th model
