Hello Everyone: My name is Richard Stephan Toman (Steffan). I'm an older sculptor and woodcarver living in Rock Hill, South Carolina, just south of Charlotte, NC. I have a Badger 150 that I am trying to learn to control in order to paint details primarily on three dimensional resin castings that are reproductions of sculptures and carvings. At present I am creating designs involving hummingbirds, owls, koi, trout, and other creatures that are intricately and subtly colored and patterned. I am finding it difficult to avoid spidering and splatter, among other things. I have been brush painting my designs, but both for economic reasons and because airbrush detailing can be so much more subtle, I really desire to be able to master the airbrush as I develop my products.

Welcome from the U.K. you’ve come to the right place for help. That was what lead me here in the first place too, that was nearly 2 years ago now I think lol. We have a few members here using airbrushes to paint carvings.
The control element really just comes with practice and a balance of air pressure and reduction (thinning the paint) to get a good flow. There are some very helpful YouTube channels and some practice sheets that can be downloaded.
The channels that I’ve found most useful would be (in no particular order):
https://www.youtube.com/user/airbrushtutor

https://www.youtube.com/user/wickedartstudio

https://www.youtube.com/user/BloodShotChannel
All of these channels have a playlist covering tips for beginners.
