Crystal pattern painting method / Custom paint & candy painting with urea fertilizer

Will try this using only wb paints, I bet you that it will work!

Thanks Vlad. I made this video because Meesh had a problem with one of the manufacturers product... figured it would be helpful.

BTW, I can understand everything you say in the video, your joke about redneck English doesn't work:)
Woman's appearing in the video was unexpected, that was cool joke!

For how long have you been ABing?

According to the date when I first came here... 5.5 years. Although I got wildly sidetracked to an injury.
I started the airbrush journey never expecting it to take the direction it has.

Good results you have. My respect to you for the channel! Many people can find very useful info for ABing. Your channel is on good level, like other channels of some forum members.
My airbrushing learning way could be much shorter if I'd have such info decade ago, I had to get many thing (you cover in your videos) myself during past decade. It was not fast to get the knowledge I have for now, it took time and effort. Your channel is good concentrate for newbies:thumbsup: They don't have to spend a lot of time for searching the info, now it's just a few click away.

Your story reminds me other similar life stories. I'm glad you won something in your life.

If your talking clear intercoat... That will serve zero purpose.
The crystals have to be washed /sanded off. You can use a tinted intercoat which will give a contrast color.

You can try and spray waterbased direct to the urea, Many have. As I stated you could dry spray and sort of make it work, at the risk of loss of adhesion. And likely washing off far more than you want
First of all, I’m not saying that you are wrong and I’m rigth, as I never used this technic I can’t affirm it will work or not, but I’m seen that the kustom industry is using nowadays a lot of the very old modellers technics, the same is happening with the modeling industry, as AMMO-MIG (hat off), is making millions only with bottling the materials that we old modellers were using for decades.
I have used a lot of water soluble mask technics like the water and salt or hair spray for chipping, and I used it always with craft acrylics paints.
So, I’m trying to understand why you are saying that it won’t work as very similar technic works fine with WB paints.
Like wise I’m trying to understand why you are saying that applying a coat of intercoat clear and then the WB paint won’t work either, as it will be the same as applying a coloured intercoat or a base colour urethane.
And yes I’m stubborn as hell, because I’ve learned that what it is impossible for someone is only harder for others.

Off course I will, no matter if they are good or bad results is knowledge for all of us!!

That is interesting! Maybe you'd create a thread for these techniques? I think something can be very useful info.

Would be great! That's what for forums exist, I think.

Thanks! I need to work on the very beginner videos.. but there is always lots of topics and only so much time!

I'm just giving advice based upon countless trials by many people.

as for using intercoat and then spraying waterbased. You have to sand or wash the crystals off. If you intercoat over them, then paint on the intercoat you would have to sand the intercoat, and thus any paint layer on top of it.

The crystals are simply a mask that must be removed. So you are sanding off high spots and leaving the low.

Urea dissolves in water. Nearly instantaneously. For a waterbased paint to adhere properly it must be sprayed with a reasonable amount of moisture to adhere properly.. Otherwise it is a dry spray that can create an adhesion issue... either today or down the road.

You can fiddle with it, but it's like putting a square peg in a round hole. There is literally nothing to be saved.

BTW, I saw in some of your videos the colour charts. I use the same, you know why, downloaded from the same place:) Which one do you fine the best? Could you take a picture of those you have? It's an interesting topic to discuss.

if you mean the munsell charts?
I don't actually use them to mix colors anymore. The charts are great to use as a visual reference to explain His saturation and value to others .

I use a single color wheel. And I'm working on making a printable multi value color wheel. The way I mix colors easily and accurately (took me a long time to get there) is in a 3 video series. with more to come.

I don't know whose that one:) One of those I have is identical to yours.
I even didn't use them for mixing colour, just used for understanding complementary colours and the things you mentioned. You're right, it's good visual reference.
For colour mixing I've done similar charts like one Australian shown in his video. That one with sliding bar. Have you made one for yourself? It's also good tool for understanding colour mixing.
After, I saw some other ways of colour mixing that works great.

More interesting is multi colour wheel. I've done something like Blair sells at his online shop, but with one more chart. I've got thought maybe it wood be useful to have similar chart, but with divided sectors (grid over the charts), not only smooth transition colour charts. Maybe that would be easier to use. I haven't found it anywhere ready to print. Maybe you've seen that anywhere?
And some thought is spinning in my mind to improve this type of charts...
