Day one in the airbrush house

I'm going to film myself later spraying a base coat on a beater body

Be as honest as possible about where I'm going wrong

Ps, ill be wearing clothes so don't worry
Good idea...Just make sure that the beater body is prepped and ready for paint. As said before, the paint will only look as good as the thing you are spraying on. Paint will not smooth or fill scratches, it will accent them....

Here we go gents

A few points

I'd normally set the rear handle to 3 of 6 (ie half way) but I forgot this time, the paint doesn't normally move like it does in this video as the surface hadn't been cleaned from being stripped (this was more to show my technique)

AND why doesn't the water based stuff do this when I apply it in the same way?

Great idea to video what you’re doing Mike, it’s been really useful. That paint is going on way too heavy. I appreciate its primer, but as Twood said the paint is only as good as what’s underneath so every stage is important. You need to think more “dusting” the paint on. The video has been a big help. I’ll try and find a video example of what I mean.

You are laying it on way to heavy. You can see in the video that the paint is moving around as you spray. Put on less paint ....you are flooding it...
take your time....even painting on a real car with a big spray gun, they lay less paint each coat than what you are doing. After your first pass, which was also heavy, you needed to stop and let it set up and dry.
