Shorti
Double Actioner
Hello,
I am an airbrush newbie. I started doing some metal work just for fun (yard art!) and was using spray can paint but wanted to get more detailed. My husband bought me a Badger 200NH bottom feed last Christmas and I finally got my current project to the state where it needed to be painted. I've been watching Youtube on the basics of airbrushing.
Applying the base coat to the project was pretty easy. It allowed me to play around with the gun and do some blending. I found myself running water through the system about every 5-10 minutes and got a system going. In the middle of the base spray I decided to do a thorough clean because things were gunking up. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the little tip at the end (under the head that I removed) is not screwed in. I must have blew it off during cleaning and didn't realize it. Of course, the gun stopped working. Long-story-short, I figured out what happened but couldn't find the tip and had to order another.
Well, with Covid, it was going to take 2 weeks to get a new tip so while I was waiting for it to arrive I purchased a Master G79 gravity fed, dual action. I wanted to try out the different kind anyway. So, now I have two guns and both seem to work pretty well for large cover.
I finished the base color and now I want to start the intricate details. A few more Youtube video's later...I did some practice runs. Actually, I've been trying to tune the airbrushes for hours ...its harder than you-tube makes it look!
I have learned there are so many factors involved in airbrushing and I'm not sure which ones I'm having difficult in...probably several. So, I decided I needed to find a forum to get advise.....and, here I am!
I look forward to the many posts already in the forum and will be adding my own questions in the appropriate forums.
